Utrecht

It is the name of the second most bike friendly city in the world, preceded by Copenhagen.
The town, boasting even a "green wave" service for cyclists, is finishing what will become the world's largest covered car park under the central station.

The first space of the Stationspleinstalling was inaugurated in August 2017 (after four years of work) and currently holds 6,000 bicycles.
However, by the end of 2018, when it is over, there will be more than 12,500. More: According to the projects, by 2020 near the station will have more than 33,000 bicycles.
The Dutch authorities have invested about 40 million euros in the facility.
Nevertheless, they say from "Fietsersbond", the union of Dutch cyclists, even when all Utrecht bicycle parking will be open, seats will still not be enough. The property is spread over three floors and has an extension of 17,000 square meters. Bike parking is free for the first 24 hours, then you pay a € 1.25 per day ticket. Inside there are repair and bicycle rental centers.
All the area is guarded by cameras and guardians. The Hague, Amsterdam and Delft are also planning large bicycle parking with a capacity of 8,500 seats each.

How to find your bike if you forgot the code you assigned? Nothing is easier: with a QR Code and a smartphone you are back riding in minutes.
