The Giro d'Italia 103, organized by RCS Sport / La Gazzetta dello Sport and scheduled from 9 to 31 May 2020, has its official jerseys. For the 2020 edition of the Corsa Rosa, the sweaters produced by Manifattura Valcismon - with the famous scorpion brand, Castelli, who also took care of the design and details - are made with recycled polyester fiber fabrics.

With 102 years of history, the Giro d’Italia Pink Jersey 103 looks clearly to the future. For the first time ever during a Grand Tour, the leader Jerseys will be made of Eco-sustainable fabrics, produced by the Sitip company through processes and fabrics with a lower environmental impact and obtained with fabrics with recycled polyester fibers - GRS (Global Recycled certified) Standard). The fabrics are mainly derived from plastic bottles, in the name of circular economy principles and policies.

From a performance point of view, the Jerseys offer the leader of their respective rankings the lightest, most aerodynamic and high-performance equipment available. Castelli's design touches are best expressed in the new graphics that recall the shape of the Endless Trophy, with the rubberized Giro d'Italia logos raised on the sleeves and Infinite Love printed on the back of the pocket.

The fabrics with recycled polyester fibers will be used not only for the jerseys used in the race but also for the official replicas of Castelli's leading jerseys.

The Jerseys of the Giro d'Italia are:

° PINK SWEATER - sponsored by ENEL - leader of the General Classification
° CYCLAMEN SHIRT - sponsored by SEGAFREDO - leader of the Points Ranking
° BLUE SHIRT - sponsored by BANCA MEDIOLANUM - leader of the Mountain Grand Prix
° WHITE SHIRT - sponsored by EUROSPIN - leader of the Youth Ranking

Ciclovia adriatica

The agreement was found between the six Regions involved: Marche, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia. The cycle route aims, with its over 800 kilometers, to become the longest in Italy
"With the approval of the Collaboration Agreement scheme between the Marche Region (leader) and the Regions of Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia for the design and construction of the 'ADRIATIC' Tourist Cycle Route the Technical Table was officially born which will have as its objective both the development of cycling mobility and the creation of a national system of tourist cycling routes ". This is the news given by the Tourism Councilor Mauro Febbo on the sidelines of the meeting held in the FIRA Station premises of the Pescara railway station, together with the managers and representatives of the other Regions involved.
"With the establishment of the Technical Table - continues the Regional Councilor for Tourism - we enter the planning and concrete phase in order to carry out all the preparatory and synergistic activities for the implementation of the Adriatic Cycle Route. The Adriatica Venice-Lecce cycle path is a very ambitious project to allow slow tourism to discover the natural beauty of our Abruzzo as well and following a mending logic, it complements the Bike to Coast section of Abruzzo. The Abruzzo cycle and pedestrian path will be 131 kilometers long, starts from Martinsicuro and arrives in San Salvo touching 19 municipalities on the Abruzzo coast.
As Abruzzo Region - Febbo recalls - we are extremely sensitive to the issue of sustainable mobility since our 'Bike to Coast' also includes the wonderful Via Verde of the Costa dei Trabocchi, already the subject of interest of thousands of foreign tourists and tour operators. At the moment, about 80-85 km are available on the entire Abruzzo coast, and we intend to resolve the current problems in order to have an entire cycle coast and therefore connect it with the other cycle paths. Furthermore, this collaboration with the other Regions must aim to be an additional and fundamental tool to promote our brand with all its beauties including those of the Abruzzo cycle path, the largest with its 131 km. The meeting - Febbo concludes - has the purpose of regulating the relations between the Administrations involved in the construction of the Adriatic Cycle Route and therefore identifying the individual actions to be borne by each Region necessary for the definition of the conditions and methods of disbursement of the financing for the planning and realization of the Adriatic Cycle Route and to commit the Administrations to manage the realization of the Project in a coordinated and systemic way, ensuring the best conditions of efficiency and cost-effectiveness ".

It will have a length of 196 meters, a width of 5, to allow pedestrian, cycle and possibly emergency vehicles to pass through. It will be built along the Adriatic cycle path, between the existing Marotta cycle path (3.6 km from the station) and the one planned in Senigallia (5.5 km from the railway station), straddling the provinces of Ancona and Pesaro and Urbino. It will be fully financed by the Marche Region, with 2 million euros from the Development and Cohesion Fund. It is the cycle / pedestrian bridge over Cesano, whose project was presented today by the President Luca Ceriscioli (at the Municipality of Mondolfo) to the press and the local authorities.

“It represents an important element, in a framework of cycle paths that involves the whole region - remarked the president - A large sustainable mobility project that looks carefully at these infrastructures for the environment, the quality of life and tourism .
We know how the bicycle cluster is one of the most important and growing in the world. The Marches have all the characteristics to capture it: landscapes, beaches, hills and mountains, places of extraordinary interest along the routes, a quality of the environment that best welcomes those who ride bicycles. "
Ceriscioli anticipated that the Region "will take care of communication campaigns, training of specialized figures, resources for bike hotels. Because the bike is a vehicle that allows you to immediately look to the future. It represents a great opportunity that we want to fully take advantage of ”. Sustainable mobility, it was then stressed, also develops by train.

"We wanted to connect the two methods - said Ceriscioli - Thanks to the latest contract with Trenitalia, we are doing an extraordinary operation. 24 new trains will be delivered that will allow the bicycle to be accommodated. This will favor an exchange between train and bicycle, with stations that will be adapted by RFI, where the ticket for the bike is not paid. I even want to imagine a weekly pass that allows a tourist, by bike and train, to move throughout the region and perhaps mark the thirteen cycle routes that we will create. Since the cycle paths are already 50% financed, we can imagine that, over the next five years, they will be able to be completed, giving the Marche a very strong identity as a sustainable region to travel on by bicycle ".

The mayor of Mondolfo, Nicola Barbieri, stressed that the bridge connects "not only two cities, but two provinces. A dream that will soon become reality. A forward-looking investment: with the cycle path we will change the way of thinking of the Marches. It is an infrastructure that unites people and communities, also integrating the cycle networks created ". The mayor of Senigallia, Maurizio Mangialardi, highlighted how the bridge represents "a piece within a larger organic project, that of sustainability, with the Marche as protagonists. The bicycle does not represent an alternative mobility, but will be the winning model of the near future ". The Councilor for Urban Quality of the Municipality of Fano, Fabiola Tonelli, noted "the immense, political and technical work behind the planning of the cycle routes. A job that cannot be taken for granted, which represents the future of this region ”.

The president of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, Giuseppe Paolini, argued that "thanks to the regional project, we are recovering the infrastructure gap accumulated with more structured countries, such as Germany, by implementing a substantial intervention effectively inserted within the context of the Marche region". Luigi Minardi, vice president of the regional council, said that "the Marche has made great strides in tourism and the environment. They are developing correct planning, the result of a vision and investments that go in the direction of high quality growth ". The cycle and pedestrian bridge over the Cesano river is an infrastructure of the Adriatic cycle path, which will develop for a length of 1,127 km along the coastal strip, involving 99 municipalities, 17 provinces and six regions, with the leading Marche. The work will cost 250 million, of which 16 already assigned by the Ministry of Infrastructure. Our region will be completely crossed (297 km). To date 166 km have been financed and completed or under construction. 131 km remain to be financed. In recent years, regional funding has reached 14.1 million: another 53 are needed to complete the Adriatic. The project includes five pedestrian cycle bridges, including Cesano. One, the one on the Aso river, has already been realized, with a regional allocation of 6.2 million. The others concern the rivers Chienti (Civitanova Marche - Porto Sant’Elpidio), Ete Vivo (Fermo - Porto San Giorgio), Tronto (San Benedetto del Tronto - Martinsicuro). For Cesano the technical and economic feasibility project already exists

Hydrofoiler XE-1

Manta5 is the startup based in New Zealand behind the Hydrofoiler XE-1 project.
The name takes its cue from the translation of hydrofoil in English ("hydrofoil") since the bicycle instead of the wheels has the typical wings of that type of boat. The latest version was the one introduced at Ces 2020 and is also the model that will be placed on the market.

This motorized water bike is capable of reaching a speed of 20 km / h and can be folded down to adapt to transport by car; the carbon fiber structure makes it light in its weight of about 20 kg. An efficient aerodynamic profile that already in the videos of the New Zealand company demonstrates how easy it is to adapt to new movements, after some inevitable empty attempts. In fact, you can get on the bike either from a shore or directly in the water: the pedals are easy to operate in any condition and the thrust given by the electric motor guarantees energy and support.

Also for the safety issue, the creators have thought of everything: the 400 W motor has been waterproofed with an IP68 degree of protection and, if necessary, there is also a lithium-ion battery, with notifications if there should be overload, short circuit or overheating to pedal without any risk. The battery can be recharged from any standard socket; a single charge provides one hour of pedal assistance for an 85 kg cyclist in normal conditions. In addition, the battery level indicators allow you to optimize your speed and therefore the duration of your ride.

The special Manta5 bicycle has been tested in both calm and moderately rough waters and can be used in the open sea. The startup behind the launch was founded in early 2011 by Guy Howard-Willis and bicycle designer Roland Alonzo, both of whom call themselves "passionate cyclists".

Alonzo's original idea was to create a light, fast, agile and easy to transport water bike: "we wanted the cyclist to be able to climb from various positions including the beach, the piers or even deep water. We spent more than seven years innovating to offer a cutting-edge vehicle with a truly unique driving experience, "said the creator. Given that in the tests carried out in Oceania there were exceptional test riders such as the Olympic canoeist Eric Murray, the hope of the inventors is that more and more athletes will choose this tool to train, waiting for real races right above the Manta5.

Rimango a casa tour

The project "Rimango a casa tour" was born from an idea by Cristian D'Emilio, the young man from Riccione - one of the founders of Radio Bakery - who last summer decided to ride the bike inherited from his father to go on a personal tour made of four stages, from Cesenatico to Bagno di Romagna, then Santarcangelo to Cattolica, to discover the roots (hence the title of the film) but with a direct gaze on the future. Hence the documentary film of the same name was born, the story of a bicycle trip in the heart of Romagna, four friends who cross Romagna from the sea to the hills with the aim of enhancing our splendid hinterland.

"In this adventure two musicians accompanied me, Luca Staccoli and Samuele Vichi (Nobraino), in addition to the director Luca Baggiarini - says Cristian - everything was born for my passion for my Romagna, my home, to do it justice I tied, in this project, the bicycle, therefore sport, music, which I have always done and will continue to do and the journey ».

Cristian has faced this "journey" aboard a special bicycle, that of his father, from which he inherited his passion for this sport, "he wanted to travel - he says - and for various vicissitudes he did not succeed, he left me this legacy desire that I try to fulfill in the best way ».

The journey lasted four days, up to Cattolica, a stage that was added in fieri, while the project was gradually being implemented. "By bike I was the only one traveling - says Cristian - the boys accompanied me in the car and when we arrived at our destination in the evening, we mounted the stage, played live for the public, then we disassembled it and left again".
But everything did not go smoothly because the bike held, it was the car that "gave in": "At Passo del Carnaio, the one to get to Bagno di Romagna, a stage of 85 km, one of the boys was the first point from a bee, then I arrived quite calm, but the car was 'out' and the engine came out of smoke. We called a mechanic friend of ours and, with a few tips and the date, we put it back a bit, luckily the next stage was downhill and we brought it home. "

The tour was born with the desire to disclose the story of the area so talking to people was essential to give a more precise idea. "The approach to the life of the people of the hinterland is different, and it was fundamental for us to tell it. Places, traditions, "all that is beyond the railway", a variety of products, landscapes, hospitality, all different that deserve to be known and valued ".

The soundtrack is signed by the band No Longer Player with songs entirely written by Cristian, inspired by his various trips, arranged by the group and produced by Radio Bakery, as an agency «with my partners, Fabio Ubaldi, Lucia Mazza and Luca Oliva , we give a lot of space to the enhancement of the territory, we work on marketing linked to tourism and on this we are consistent in our projects ».

Biciklistika

Biciklistika is the title of this educational manual on the culture and usefulness of the bicycle, created by graphic designer and illustrator Srdja Dragovic, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, Montenegro.

” Second edition of ”Biciklistika” manual (translated as ”Cyclistics”) was my official graduation project at the Graphic Design Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, Montenegro. This expanded edition features more illustrations, within the different layout and dimensions. Traffic signs section is separated and placed in the middle of the manual, with different dimensions and paper. While it’s still a concept, it will definitely serve as a basis for the future editions of this manual, originally aimed at the secondary school pupils in Montenegro, and published by NGO Biciklo.me, Podgorica.”

LA FELICITA' IN BICICLETTA

Perché è sensazioni tradotte in pensieri, idee elevate a teorie, perfino qualche conoscenza diventata certezza.

It is a desire, an innocence, or maybe an illusion. It is an ataraxia, a joy, or perhaps an absence. It is a goal, a goal, or perhaps a journey. It is a mood, a way of being, or perhaps a work of art. Happiness is a love, a passion, or maybe just (only?) A ride.
Valter Ballarini and Daniela Angelozzi wrote "Happiness on a bicycle" (The meeting point editions, 144 pages, € 11.90). It is easier to write what this book is not: it is not a manual, it is not an essay, it is not an anthology, it is not a treatise, it is not a novel or a fairy tale, it is not even a decalogue or a recipe book. Because it is feelings translated into thoughts, ideas elevated to theories, even some knowledge that has become certainty. Everything stems from a cycling practice and from an existential blog: “Ways to be and to perceive reality through a slightly lateral view with respect to common sense, taking care of our cells and the effects that cycling has on our mind, as well as on our body".
Thirty-seven chapters, introduced by as many aphorisms. The first chapter, "Happiness", could be the last one: "Happiness is felt. Happiness is unrelated to time. It can be the magical perception of a moment or even the indefinite prolongation of a state of awareness ... ". The last chapter, "Conclusions ... to start the journey", could also be the first: "The bicycle without us would be an immobile object. Together with us it acquires and expresses its potential ... Entering this sort of trance state, we are the bike, we are what surrounds us, we are the air we breathe ... ".
Ballarini and Angelozzi discover the night ("At night one learns the art of imagining. It is like traveling among the stars ... At night the attention is concentrated on oneself and thoughts wander and get lost in the dark"), re-evaluate the rain ("We hope it rains. Yes, because pedaling when it rains, staying dry, is a beautiful experience to live"), celebrate the women ("Finally the world of two wheels has also noticed the massive presence of women ... cyclists 'smile is not accidental, it is the natural expression of a more evolved way of interpreting the pleasure of riding a bicycle, enjoying physical and mental sensations ... We study female geometries ... ") and warn about any risks (" All' increasing the intensity and duration of the training decreases the libido in parallel ").
Among the most common risks, that of meeting the "vampire cyclists": "They are apparently normal and harmless people, perhaps even sociable and extroverted ...", "who hide unfulfilled needs and small internal voids that they are unable to fill by just ... ". Their most common attitudes? “Egocentrism (they only talk about their businesses). Intrusiveness (they ask a lot of questions about your way of cycling and fill you with useless advice). Tendency to judge (everyone complains, motorists, roads, other cyclists). Handling (they tend to explain to you what you already know about how the bike works and how to pedal uphill). Lack of irony (they don't understand the jokes). They are boring (they only talk about clichés) ".
As for the aphorisms, that of Emo Philips, an American actor and comedian, has the gift of cycling lightness: “When I was little I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realized that the Lord doesn't do this kind of thing, so I stole one and asked him to forgive me. "

Bici & arte

Lotta, fatica, fuga, libertà, dinamismo e solitudine.

Fight, fatigue, escape, freedom, dynamism and solitude.

The soul of cycling represented in the history of art with the works of some great artists who have narrated this sport in different eras. Colors, traits and techniques in continuous evolution such as cycling itself and its protagonists to represent a changing society, but with the bike always protagonist.

Mario Schifano, Solo (1984)

A bright yellow jersey, the cyclist's push on the pedals and the illusion of having not only his wheels, but also all those that accompany his race. But he remains and is "Alone" in a moment of tension, speed and total freedom.

Titina Maselli, Ciclista (1993)

Vivid and scratchy colors, with the figure almost popping out of the canvas. For years, Maselli has been telling about sports, tending to capture "" at screaming tension, with the most basic and contrasting color possible ", as she herself told her works.

Roberto Sironi, Sprint (2013)

In this acrylic on cardboard, the brush strokes expertly build the crowd of spectators intent on attending the race represented in the foreground. Until August 6, 2018, the Cucchi Pastry Shop in Milan displays 19 works by Sironi dedicated to the world of cycling with a particular focus on the Tour of Italy.

Aligi Sassu, I Ciclisti (1957)

Fatigue, effort and struggle represented in a realistic and vivid way are the protagonists of this oil on canvas entitled "The Cyclists". "Only those who fought on the streets can understand its poetry," explains Sassu. The recurring theme of many of his works, his drawings have also become a book: "Gianni Brera, I ciclisti di Aligi Sassu - Disegni, Edizioni della Seggiola, 1980".

Anselmo Bucci, Giro (1936

The artist's watercolor, one of the founders of the Italian twentieth century, is part of three albums dedicated to the 1935 Tour de France, the 1936 and 1939 Giro d'Italia. Here Bartali's escape on Gran Sasso followed by Bucci, together with the correspondent of the Corriere della Sera Orio Vergani.
