KASK Limelight

– costante a bassa intensità,
– costante a media intensità,
– costante ad alta intensità,
– lampeggiante a bassa intensità

Many city cyclists also pedal in the evening hours, and for them KASK Limelight is the rear LED light to be applied to the back of the helmet, designed precisely to increase visibility and safety on the road.

This new KASK device is easy to assemble thanks to a practical clip attachment.

Limelight has 5 different types of light signals:

– constant at low intensity,

– constant at medium intensity,

– constant high intensity,

– flashing at low intensity

– flashing at high intensity.

Battery life, rechargeable via the included USB-C cable, varies depending on which mode you choose to use, up to a maximum of approximately 11 hours in high-intensity flashing mode.

Furthermore, when the battery charge reaches a level below 15%, Limelight emits a special light signal to warn the user.

Kask Limelight is compatible with the Urban helmets of the Kask collection: Moebius, Moebius Elite and Urban R.

The device is available individually at a price of €39.

The Moebius Limelight model is also sold, i.e. the Moebius helmet in its 10 color variants, already equipped with Limelight, at a price of €129.

Lorenzo Barone

Numbers often tell a lot about a business, and a life. Twenty-five years, riding a bicycle for seven, crossed 55 countries, some of which several times; 93,000 km travelled, with temperatures ranging from 50 degrees in the Sahara to -55 in Yacutia. This, in figures, is the cycle traveler Lorenzo Barone, born in Umbria but now a citizen of the world, who has just returned from his latest venture, unfortunately stopped by the war, but equally extraordinary.

Barone had the dream of cycling along the longest road in the world, from Cape Aghulas (the southernmost point of Africa) to Magadan (Russia), 24 thousand km long; indeed, to go further, up to Cape Dezhnev (the easternmost point of Asia), for a total of 29 thousand km in 400 days, with a break of about four months to wait for the rivers of Yakutia to freeze.

After having recounted all his stages online for over 7 months - a different border every 7-10 days - between the African savannah, the pyramids in Egypt and the endless lands of Mongolia, he had to surrender to the impossibility of crossing the Russia: "In Ulanbaatar, after 20,733 km, I suspended the journey and will end it when the situation becomes calmer and above all stable again".

Certainly not an easy choice, given the ambitious project he was pursuing. "I should have entered precisely in the days of the queues of cars of Russians fleeing their country. As a European, traveling against the tide would have been very dangerous, I would have risked being arrested. By now everything has become illegal in Russia, I had to listen to the advice of those who he is there and knows more than me".

"At 17, my parents didn't want to let me go, not even to the sea with friends on the beach. They told me: at 18, do what you want. And so, of age, I left for a trip to Portugal and back, almost 8,000 km in the saddle to my mum's bike, with plastic cans as travel bags", she laughs thinking about it, "still my most important journey because the first is always the most difficult".

And then there were the 15,000 km in which he passed through the North Cape and Iceland, the 3,000 between South Korea and Japan, the 4,000 km cycled in India, Siberia in winter, but the list would be long. "I've always gone in search of the new, every time a new experience to have " . And the next destination? "For a while I want to take my mind off travelling, I always had the feeling of having to leave again, as if the journey was in charge of me and not vice versa. Now I'm recounting my adventures around Italy, it's a useful exercise for digest what I have done".

“Basta morti in strada, basta morti in bici”

The bicycle is not an inconvenient hindrance to circulation, but it is part of the solution for having more livable cities and for truly sustainable mobility. Starting from this belief with the slogan "No more deaths on the road, no more deaths on the bike" on 13 December Legambiente, La Nuova Ecologia and BikeItalia, together with FIAB, Italian Touring Club, ACCPI, ANCMA, ASviS, Clean Cities Campaign, Luigi Guccione Foundation , Michele Scarponi Foundation, Io Respect The Cyclist Association, Lorenzo Guarneri Association, Kyoto Club, Salvaiciclisti, Velolove and Vivinstrada met in front of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in Rome and explain that it is «A garrison to ask for a safer and more people-friendly, because it is inadmissible to accept the daily toll of deaths and injuries on the road, which represents the leading cause of death among young people in Italy and a danger for vulnerable users such as cyclists".

A bulletin, that of dead and injured on the road, which has recently recorded a significant increase, as the most recent data and stories tell us: According to ACI-ISTAT data, «In 2021 in Italy there was a daily average of 561 injured and 7.9 killed in road accidents, with a social cost of 16.4 billion euros, 0.9% of the national GDP. The group most affected by deaths was that of 20-24 years. Almost 10% of accidents last year involved cyclists: 220 lost their lives in 2021. And overall, it did not go better during the first six months of 2022 which saw an increase in the number of road accidents with injuries to people (81,437) equal to +24.7%, compared to the same reference period of 2021. The main causes of road accidents include speeding, distraction and failure to comply with road rules by drivers of motor vehicles".

For the 15 acronyms that joined the demonstration, «It's time to ask for concrete commitments from the Government and Parliament to stop the massacre that continues to affect many bicycle users these days. In the name of Davide Rebellin, Manuel Lorenzo Ntube and the other hundreds of cycling victims of recent years, we have called today's rally to ask for cities to operate at 30 km/h, more funds for cycle paths, immediately the law on overtaking at 1.5 meters and policies oriented towards Vision Zero which make it possible to give space and safety to people before cars, eliminating the victims of accidents. We also ask for the immediate restoration of funding for the cycle paths, canceled in the supplementary note to the 2023 budget law".

The organizations denounce that «For the years 2023 and 2024, two loans of 47 million euros (for a total of 94 million) were in fact foreseen which today present the item «definancing» and reset the "Fund for cycling" established by the Conte II government in 2019, which provided for the allocation of 141 million for the three-year period 2022-2024 (47 per year) for the "creation of 30 km/h zones, cycle lanes, advanced houses and parking areas for bicycles".

The coalition associations remind MIT that in July it had signed the Manifesto "For 30 cities and safe and vital streets", together with the UN, the Anci and the ACI, to give priority to three urgent points: pursuing the model of “Città 30”, creating living streets; enforce compliance with the rules, through technology and nudging; envisage a law for assistance to victims of road violence and that «Among the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development of the UN is that of halving road deaths compared to 2019 (3,173), but Italy is very far from achieving the result, considering the trends of only the first six months of 2022 (1,450 deaths, +15.3% compared to the same reference period in 2021)".

As emerged during the Third Comprehensive Ministerial Conference on Road Safety in Stockholm, zeroing road fatalities requires political commitment and more action and must go through "Speed management and law enforcement to prevent excesses and enforce a maximum road speed of 30 km/h in areas where vulnerable users and vehicles mix in a frequent and planned way.'

Considering that almost all accidents on the roads are due to behavior contrary to the highway code by vehicle drivers, road safety especially in urban centers must be implemented through policies to discourage the use of motor vehicles, especially private ones, and incentive policies the use of alternative and eco-sustainable means such as urban public transport and active mobility, i.e. by bicycle or on foot. Therefore, the associations ask for the moderation of speed, with greater controls and more road education, with the reduction of road sections and speeds, increasing the modal share and dissuading the use of the private car, putting the center of the city and the viability back people and not cars, at the center of mobility users and not means of transport. We need to build a new "vision" of civil coexistence through which to look at development as a growth factor that does not threaten and destroy the environment, that gives equal opportunities to citizens and generations, centrality to walking and cycling (also in the Highway Code ), and no longer to private motorization, the real cause of accidents not compatible with the climate crisis".

To.Tem Cobra

It is the first eBike equipped with the innovative safety system called To.tem Eye which uses a special video camera mounted under the saddle to frame the area behind the cyclist and send in real time not only the images to the smartphone like a normal rear view camera, but also warnings in the event of a danger of collision if, for example, a vehicle approaches too quickly.

In addition to this, it is an e-bike with a modern and entirely Italian design, which also focuses on lightness: it weighs just 15.5 kg, and integrates a 250 Wh battery in the frame which ensures 75 km of autonomy. The motor is instead of 200 Watt and is positioned on the rear wheel, with a maximum speed of 32 km/h.

Another peculiarity of the To.Tem Cobra is that it replaces the chain with the Gates Carbon Drive, which is a belt drive connected to a single sprocket. This design choice was born to eliminate all the consequences of the chain, and therefore regular maintenance, the use of grease and possible damage. The brakes, on the other hand, use a double disc system. The frame is in aluminium, the fork in carbon.

Mate.SUV

Northern European countries are always taken as an example of mobility, with their ability to use bikes and e-bikes in situations that would seem impossible for other European citizens, and it is therefore natural that a very interesting new product was born here, in Denmark for accuracy.

Inspired precisely by Danish culture, and engineered with the collaboration of the German studio Zanzotti Industrial Design, Mate presents Mate.SUV, whose name is clearly the explanation of its intent.

An e-bike that aims to provide the best load capacity and mobility, so much so that it is openly a substitute for the second family car, and for some perhaps even the first. It focuses on a massive front cargo space, so as to force the designers to focus on the configuration with three wheels, two of which are front.

It is a product, for once, European and designed for Europe, therefore in compliance with our regulations, with 250 W of maximum power of the electric assistance, and 25 km/h as the speed limit in which the motor electric makes its support felt. Everything else is leg strength.

The height of the rider can be between 160 and 210 cm, while the front space can also accommodate a second adult, or two children, with alternative material for a volume of 210 litres. Mate imagines his e-bike with protective front bars, a cargo cover, or even a curtain to shelter passengers from bad weather.
