Do you want cleaner air for you and your children?
The solution is only one: to ride a bicycle.

This was confirmed by a research by the University of Oxford which established priorities, showing how active mobility is much more important and effective than the spread of electric cars. Looking at the life cycle of the electric vehicle, from production to disposal, the researchers found that bicycle emissions can be more than 30 times lower per trip than driving a fossil fuel car and about ten times lower than driving. driving an electric car.

According to the research of the prestigious university, to tackle the climate crisis it is therefore necessary to act immediately and quickly: waiting for the entire global car fleet to be electric would take too long. To date, there are only 1 electric cars for every 50 new cars. Still a few. Not to mention that making and using an electric car still means polluting, producing polluting emissions linked above all to the production phases of the vehicle, batteries and their disposal, as well as electricity that is used as fuel. Active mobility - which is the cool way to understand the bike - is the cheapest and healthiest way people have to move, as well as the best solution for the environment. A choice that does not jeopardize travel time, since often moving actively and sustainably on congested urban roads is the fastest solution in short journeys.

The researchers tracked around 4,000 people living in London, Antwerp, Barcelona, Vienna, Orebro, Rome and Zurich over a two-year period. Participants noted about 10,000 daily trips and the carbon footprint generated was calculated for each trip. Those who switched from cars to bicycles even for just one day a week have reduced their carbon footprint by 3.2 kg of CO2, the equivalent of the emissions resulting from driving a car for 10 km. In this way, the researchers were able to find that people who pedaled daily had 84% less carbon emissions on all their daily trips than those who did not.

The message launched by Oxford is clear: focusing exclusively on the spread of electric vehicles is not an ineffective strategy, because, as the researchers show, it would mean heavily delaying the goal of reducing CO2 emissions.

Digital cycling fun with an accessory that has become mind-blowing and hi-tech. In recent years, the helmet has become an increasingly sophisticated and expensive accessory.

Those who go to work by bicycle and those who spend the weekend on an off-road bike can have a lot of fun with the new bluetooth helmets. Which are beautiful to look at and fun to wear, because they have great amps for enjoying music.

Unlike headphones, however, they offer good sound reproduction, but without excluding the noises of the surrounding environment. They are very light, despite the ultramodern features. These helmets are also equipped with a LED light system to be visible at night.

And bluetooth to answer phone calls, just touch the buttons located on the side of the ear. They are obviously equipped with a very good microphone on the nape of the neck.

But the most amazing and innovative feature is the shock detection system.

If the cyclist falls, the helmet detects the impact.

And if it is of a certain intensity, it sends an instant notification to our phone, to check our responsiveness. If there is no response within five minutes, the helmet independently initiates a call from our phone to the emergency numbers we have stored on the phone.

Have you ever felt euphoric, high, completely inside the moment you are living? Like when you come back from a beautiful summer evening you drive your car on the deserted road and your favorite song plays on the radio.

There is that instant when you want to step on the accelerator, when you feel 100 percent for no particular reason, other than that beautiful evening, that beautiful music and that beautiful atmosphere.

Here, I have felt this way for a whole year. On 19 July 2015 I left to go around the world by bicycle. I returned a year later with 35,000 kilometers in my legs and the stamps of 35 countries in my passport; I paid for accommodation to sleep only for 10 nights and met countless "brothers".

It might sound like a joke, but it isn't. This is a decision taken for some time by the International Cycling Union: from Thursday 1 April, professional cyclists will no longer be able to adopt certain positions on the bicycle during the races, under penalty of heavy penalties (there are three ways: 1,000 Swiss francs fine, 25 points less in the UCI ranking, elimination or disqualification).

The reason why certain positions were banned is related to safety, as can be seen from the official documents: "To help ensure the safety of everyone in the race, athletes must be in total control of the bicycle at all times, at all times. and at the same time they must be an example for less experienced cyclists ”. But what are these forbidden positions? Fans know them very well, because they have become particularly famous in recent years, invented by some champions and then slowly adopted by the whole group.

For the UCI the reference is the standard position, defined in article 1.3.008: "The posture [on a bicycle] requires that the only points of support are the feet on the pedals, the hands on the handlebars and the rear on the saddle". The most famous forbidden position is the downhill one called “super-tuck” or “Froome”: the butt ends up almost resting on the barrel (top tube) while the torso finds itself in a very advanced position, even beyond the handlebars.

Super tuck position and chronoman position. The UCI specifies: "Cyclists must respect the standard position as defined in article 1.3.008.

It is forbidden to sit on the top tube of the bicycle. Furthermore, it is forbidden to use the forearms as a support point on the handlebars except in time trials ”. Article 1.3.008 states: "The cyclist must normally assume a sitting position on the bicycle.

This position requires that the only points of support are the following: the feet on the pedals, the hands on the handlebars and the seat on the saddle ”.

Preparations are underway for the fourth edition of the Italian Bike Festival, the most important Italian event dedicated to the bicycle sector and its enthusiasts, which for the past 4 years has gathered thousands of people in Rimini to preview and test the news of the market.

Not even last year, marked by the cancellation of fairs and events open to the general public, did Italian Bike Festival fail to fulfill the promise made in 2018 to companies, operators and lovers of two wheels: to represent a constant in the relationship between all these actors, a place of meeting and comparison within which to be able to preview the novelties of the market of the following year but above all do it with the wise advice of those who have studied those novelties and are ready to launch them on the market. A direct line between company and consumer that is renewed year by year and which in 2020 awarded the Italian Bike Festival with over 25,000 registered and a total of 30,000 admissions in three days and with the burden and the honor of having been in the past season the first appointment in Europe to offer this possibility to bicycle enthusiasts.

It starts again now, when there are just under 6 months to go before the event, which again this year makes use of the collaboration and support of the Municipality of Rimini, APT Servizi Emilia Romagna and Visit Romagna, with the desire not to have to give up to the rich program of entertainment, shows and Extra Festivals skipped last year. The location, Parco Fellini di Rimini, and the dates announced at the end of the last edition, from 10 to 12 September 2021, have been confirmed.

In order to ensure compliance with the regulations on social distancing and gatherings from now on, this year too there will be compulsory and free registration, already available by clicking here.

The format has also been confirmed, with the exhibition area of over 45,000 square meters that incorporates the Off Road Arena where you can test MTB and eMTB.

Over 170 brands that have already confirmed their presence and that, according to forecasts, will fill all the slots provided within the village, well exceeding 300.

Also this year, space for the cycling sector with the presence of the most virtuous tourist resorts that have made sustainable mobility and the incentive to use two wheels an engine of their economy.

And, speaking of active tourism, the "Malatestiana", the cycle tourism of the Signoria of Rimini, will make its return, which will accompany the participants in the Rimini hinterland on the protected paths of the Via Romagna in a suggestive ride to be faced with Road Bikes, MTB, Gravel or eBike. On the other hand, the "Dolce Vita" is making its debut, a historical cyclist that from Torre Predera di Rimini will arrive in Riccione, stopping inside the Village of the Italian Bike Festival, and then returning.

Given the enormous success of last year, with over 100 participants at the start, there will also be a playful moment dedicated to supporting and promoting an alternative concept of sustainable urban mobility: the CargoBike Revolution. A ride in the city of Rimini, with departure and arrival at the Italian Bike Festival aimed at raising public awareness of the use of CargoBikes in the city.

But it does not end here: the rich program of shows and shows that made the Italian Bike Festival famous in its first 3 editions will return, the competitions in the Off Road Arena, the Pumptrack to make even the little ones take their first steps on two wheels, the Extra Festival appointments in which to meet at the end of a test day and the calendar of appointments and meetings with the greatest cycling champions of yesterday and today.

The Italian Gravel Trophy is an international cycling event created in collaboration with the hoteliers association "Welcome to Gabicce" with the patronage of the Municipality of Gabicce Mare and the Marche Region.

The 1st edition of the "Italian Gravel Trophy", a new international cycling event lasting two days under the auspices of the ACSI sports promotion body, will take place in the splendid Marche Riviera on the first weekend of September (Saturday 4 and Sunday 5).

The cycling event will be preceded by a promotional day (Saturday) entirely dedicated to the Gravel phenomenon. In a barycentric area with respect to the starting point of the race, a rich and dynamic Bike-Village will be set up where specialized companies will be able to exhibit their products.

The route of the excursion will wind through ancient villages, historic manors and medieval fortresses, along the dirt roads and suggestive hilly areas that have always identified this magical land set in the province of Pesaro and Urbino.

The route will cover the white and rural roads of the hinterland in the district of the municipality of Gabicce but also that of the province of Pesaro-Urbino with its historical and monumental attractions to reach the Monte San Bartolo Natural Park, thus offering a great opportunity visibility also to that rich network of accommodation facilities (agritourisms, wine cellars, food and wine realities) usually not adequately exploited by the classic circuits of seaside tourism.

The route will be modulated according to the expectations of the Gravel cyclist who, while cultivating a "healthy competitive spirit", is more comparable to the profile of a hiker, or a "slow" sportsman who loves pedaling with "his head held high" so as not to lose the wonders. scenographic of the places he runs through, also allowing himself regenerating stops and long breaks in the refreshment points. For this reason, the event will not be competitive and therefore will not have chronometric results or final rankings.

Also for this reason, the event - as well as to Gravel-bikes - will be open to all types of vehicles (mtb, e-bike and long-distance bike).

The cycling event will be preceded by a promotional day (Saturday) entirely dedicated to the Gravel phenomenon. In a barycentric area with respect to the starting point of the race, in strict compliance with the safety protocols that will be in force this summer - a rich and dynamic Bike-Village will be set up where specialized companies will be able to exhibit their products.

It will be a highly profiled container on the Gravel segment, also enriched by conferences, B2B and B2C meetings, presentation of previews and moments of entertainment. The goal, according to the organizers, is the affirmation of a promotion and hospitality model that can generate arrivals and presences in the Gabicce area in all months of the year.

Bisogna imparare a sopportarlo, a conviverci.

Those who ride a bicycle have heard it said at least once in their life:

But who makes you do it?

Why undergo heroic suffering in order to reach the top of an unknown pass?

Why chew kilometers after kilometers for the pure pleasure of crossing a finish line - your own - with your cheeks mixed with fatigue and emotion?

In this book, dedicated to those who have already found the answer, but also to those who still do not know it, Giacomo Pellizzari takes us on cycling routes famous for their perfidy to tell us about one of the most loved sports.

Between anecdotes about the great champions, portraits of intrepid Sunday cyclists and practical advice to face the difficulties, Pellizzari explains how the bicycle changed his life.

Since pedaling, he has met many friends, he has seen the most beautiful mountains in the world, he has relived the exploits of the great "competing" at a distance with Pantani and with Wiggins, with Ullrich and Coppi, with Gimondi and his grandfather Bruno, who during the war carried the most urgent dispatches on his Umberto Dei. But above all he has learned to live with pain to distill its greatest pleasure: that of overcoming one's limits every day, returning to being pure body and feeling truly alive.
Because, as he says, "when you pedal, pain is an essential component of pleasure.
You have to learn to bear it, to live with it.
If you are not willing to accept it, you will not love the bicycle. "
Moreover, it is not mandatory.
