2 – I freni

6 – I catadiottri, gialli
Sui pedali.

8 – Giubbotto o bretelle retroriflettenti

Here you can find 8 rules to follow riding our bike:

1 - The tires
The bikes must have "tires", which in reality can also be full tires, as in the case of public bikes, ie bike sharing. However, always check that the tread is intact: the law does not provide minimum thickness, as for cars, but the state of wear makes the difference in the conditions of risk, and avoid annoying and expensive punctures.

2 - The brakes
The use of the bike also has anthropological, tribal, and especially in the twenties is the widespread fixie, or the bike "fixed gear" (the pedal is integral to the wheel, so you can not stop pedaling and pace it is regulated by slowing or accelerating). For the law anthropology and trends are however a dead letter: the brakes must be on both wheels and must guarantee a "ready and effective" braking. Better to use them both at the same time, and to check the wear of the skates often.

3 - The bell
Not everyone knows that it is obligatory, but you are fined even when, out of coquetry or worse for neglect, you do not want to mount it on the supersport by less than eight kilos and five thousand euro. If you take part in sporting events, the provisions of the law are not mandatory, but if you go on the street with the other vehicles, yes, always.

4 - The lights
Front white, rear red, are essential if you want to see, and above all be seen in low light conditions. The bike is a thin and transparent vehicle, so always check the efficiency of the lights. The Code does not say whether they should or can be intermittent or fixed, but it is important that they exist, and they work well. You can even be fined during the day. Now there are LEDs, also rechargeable. In most cases they can be disassembled to prevent theft.

5 - The reflector, red
It is a safety device at the rear of the bike. Best known as a reflector, it reflects the light from the headlights and identifies the bike from the rear in the dark, reinforcing the effect of red back light. The form or extension is not prescribed, but it is fundamental.

6 - The reflectors, yellow
On the pedals. It is not specified, but generally they are both in front of and behind each pedal, very effective the night in approaching or moving away from another vehicle, where in practice they become light signals in alternating movement, according to the pedaling.

7 - Other retro-reflectors, yellow
"Applied on the sides," says the law article. It is not clear where they should be and their number, usually they are the reflectors applied on the wheels and in the dark they guarantee the lateral visibility of the bike, very important then to the crossings. It is not clear whether the white reflectors on the sides of the most modern tires are also allowed, very effective even over 1,000 meters. and very widespread. In general, the more you put it the better.

8 - Retro-reflective jacket or shoulder straps
It is a provision provision that does not fall under art. 68, but in 182, Circulation of velocipedes (c.9a). The substance is that from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise, the cyclist, if outside a town or in the tunnel, must wear a vest or reflective braces Ce approved. Always have them with you!
