Terra VR 46

 Le e-bike di Valentino Rossi, due mountain bike elettriche dal nome Terra VR 46, debuttano a Eicma 2021.

MT Distribution e VR|46, dopo l’annuncio all’Italian Bike Festival 2021 di Rimini, presentano ad EICMA 2021 una bici elettrica premium, pensata per soddisfare anche i bike rider più esigenti grazie alla qualità progettuale Made in Italy e alla cura nella scelta dei componenti, selezionati direttamente con le case madri dei più importati e prestigiosi brand del settore ciclo attraverso i principali distributori europei. Si tratta di due bici derivate dalla stessa base, di cui una in edizione limitata. Entrambe hanno caratteristiche di alta gamma, andiamo a scoprirle.

TERRA VR|46 è la prima e-mtb concepita tra Tavullia, sede del Ranch di Rossi, e Bologna, ed è una e-bike da enduro bi-ammortizzata in grado di offrire una pedalata fluida ed un elevato controllo in discesa e in curva, attraverso l’attento studio nella progettazione e la scelta di soluzioni tecniche all’avanguardia.

Al progetto partecipano infatti importanti player nella componentistica bike ed elettrica come Bosch, Pirelli, Sram/Rock Shox, Fulcrum, Ohlins, Crankbrothers, Technomousse e Ochain.
Il progetto è stato sviluppato dal team di ricerca e sviluppo di MT Distribution, che si è occupato dell’ingegnerizzazione e design del telaio e della bici, lavorando nella Motor Valley italiana, il distretto industriale e culturale dell’Emilia-Romagna noto a livello internazionale come culla di alcuni dei marchi automotive più rinomati al mondo.

l cuore del progetto è il telaio in alluminio idroformato 6061 – T6 interamente studiato e progettato in Italia, nato con lo scopo di unire ad un design unico scelte tecnologiche innovative.
Particolare attenzione è stata data alle quote geometriche e in particolare alla sella, progettata in posizione avanzata per garantire un’ottima posizione di guida anche con pendenze proibitive. Unita ad una quota di Reach importante, questa soluzione offre piena stabilità anche nelle discese più tecniche.

Performance ottimali in discesa oltre a grande stabilità e sostegno del rider sulle salite più ripide sono assicurate dallo studio, a livello cinematico, della curva di compressione. Inoltre, grazie al sistema flipchip posizionato sul fulcro inferiore dell’ammortizzatore, è possibile trasformare la geometria della bici, passando da una performante All-Mountain ad una competitiva E-Enduro. È infatti possibile variare l’angolo di sterzo da 65.5° a 64.5°, oltre ad abbassare il movimento centrale si abbassa di ben 12mm a tutto vantaggio delle performance in discesa.

Alcuni elementi del telaio, come la piastra attacco motore scatolata, sono stati studiati riprendendo soluzioni tipiche del mondo delle moto. È stato Inoltre scelto di utilizzare cuscinetti di grandi dimensioni insieme a perni passanti sovradimensionati a tutto vantaggio della rigidità torsionale di tutto il telaio.
Il passaggio cavi è completamente integrato per garantire protezione da possibili urti e non influire sul design della bici, a completamento delle scelte progettuali che rendono TERRA VR|46 un nuovo riferimento nel panorama delle moderne e-bike presenti sul mercato.

La genesi del design di TERRA VR|46 racconta la naturale transizione del brand VR46 verso un futuro high tech e sostenibile, oltre che ben ancorato a una storia irripetibile di successi sportivi e a un patrimonio umano di grande spessore.

Le forme del telaio e degli elementi sono protratte in avanti senza tuttavia risultare sfuggenti. La sezione del triangolo si contrae con forza in prossimità del tubo forcella, quasi a suggerire la sagoma minacciosa di un centauro pronto a scattare in avanti. L’allineamento del profilo del triangolo con il carro è percepibile nella sua interezza dal manubrio al mozzo ruota posteriore, grazie anche a un tubo sella eccezionalmente corto e attillato che contribuisce alla tensione generale delle linee.

L’allargamento del triangolo nella porzione a ridosso del canotto di sterzo è apprezzabile soprattutto se osservata dall’alto e quindi dal posto di guida, la posizione dove si provano le emozioni più grandi. La forma, ottenuta mediante un gioco spigoli e superfici, è una citazione della tipica forma del serbatoio motociclistico. La biella è stata oggetto di particolare attenzione stilistica, il gioco di nervi tesi viene enfatizzato anche su questo elemento strutturale.
Il nero lucido, tecnologico e austero, è dominante soprattutto nella zona posteriore dove molta della raffinata meccanica è a vista, mentre nella zona più emozionale, contratta e pulsante, viene dominata dall’iconico giallo VR|46.

Nel 2022, TERRA VR|46 sarà lanciata sul mercato in due versioni.

The heart of the project is the 6061 - T6 hydroformed aluminum frame entirely studied and designed in Italy, created with the aim of combining innovative technological choices with a unique design.

Particular attention was given to the geometric dimensions and in particular to the saddle, designed in an advanced position to ensure an excellent riding position even with prohibitive slopes. Combined with an important Reach share, this solution offers full stability even in the most technical descents.

Optimal downhill performance as well as great stability and rider support on steeper climbs are ensured by the kinematic study of the compression curve. Furthermore, thanks to the flipchip system positioned on the lower fulcrum of the shock absorber, it is possible to transform the geometry of the bike, going from a performing All-Mountain to a competitive E-Enduro. It is in fact possible to vary the steering angle from 65.5 ° to 64.5 °, in addition to lowering the bottom bracket, it lowers by 12mm to the benefit of downhill performance.

Some elements of the frame, such as the boxed engine mounting plate, have been designed using solutions typical of the world of motorcycles. It was also chosen to use large bearings together with oversized thru-axles to the advantage of the torsional rigidity of the whole frame.

The cable routing is fully integrated to ensure protection from possible impacts and not affect the design of the bike, completing the design choices that make TERRA VR | 46 a new reference in the panorama of modern e-bikes on the market.

The design genesis of TERRA VR | 46 tells the natural transition of the VR46 brand towards a high tech and sustainable future, as well as well anchored to an unrepeatable history of sporting successes and a human heritage of great depth.

The shapes of the frame and the elements are extended forward without however being elusive. The section of the triangle contracts strongly near the fork tube, as if to suggest the menacing silhouette of a centaur ready to spring forward. The alignment of the triangle profile with the wagon is perceptible in its entirety from the handlebar to the rear wheel hub, thanks also to an exceptionally short and tight seat tube which contributes to the general tension of the lines.

The widening of the triangle in the portion close to the steering head is appreciable especially when viewed from above and therefore from the driver's seat, the position where the greatest emotions are experienced. The shape, obtained through a play of edges and surfaces, is a reference to the typical shape of the motorcycle tank. The connecting rod has been the subject of particular stylistic attention, the play of tense nerves is also emphasized on this structural element.

Glossy black, technological and austere, is dominant especially in the rear area where much of the refined mechanics are visible, while in the more emotional, contracted and pulsating area, it is dominated by the iconic VR | 46 yellow.

In 2022, TERRA VR | 46 will be launched on the market in two versions.
