Le Marche sono state e sono davvero terre di grande ciclismo, fin dall’inizio del Novecento, quando ad Ancona arrivò per la prima volta il Giro d’Italia.
E da quel tempo ripercorriamo i momenti forti dello sport della bicicletta fra il mare e i monti, le città d’arte e gli itinerari che sembrano disegnati apposta per pedalare in questa splendida regione.
Il Giro d’Italia e le sfide dei giganti della strada, immortali personaggi idealmente capeggiati da Coppi e Bartali, legati entrambi, seppure in maniera differente, alle Marche anche per quel che riguarda la loro vita privata. E la Tirreno-Adriatico che quasi sempre s’è decisa in queste terre e le altre sfide, ma soprattutto i personaggi marchigiani, ciclisti più o meno celebri dell’antico e del recente passato, tecnici e manager di qualità, tanti giovani che hanno fatto del ciclismo una scuola di vita.
Una sorta di suggestiva guida per ricordare il passato e anticipare il futuro d’una disciplina che anche nel terzo millennio continua ad affascinare.
The Marche region has been and is truly a land of great cycling, since the beginning of the twentieth century, when the Giro d'Italia arrived in Ancona for the first time.
And since that time we have been retracing the strong moments of the sport of cycling between the sea and the mountains, the cities of art and the itineraries that seem to have been designed specifically for cycling in this splendid region.
The Giro d'Italia and the challenges of the giants of the road, immortal characters ideally led by Coppi and Bartali, both linked, albeit in different ways, to the Marche region also with regard to their private lives.
And the Tirreno-Adriatico that has almost always been decided in these lands and the other challenges, but above all the characters of the Marche, more or less famous cyclists of the ancient and recent past, quality technicians and managers, many young people who have made cycling a school of life.
A sort of evocative guide to remember the past and anticipate the future of a discipline that continues to fascinate even in the third millennium.
