Bikepacking

Bikepacking is mainly practiced on off-road routes.

It generally consists of camping in a tent carried inside a backpack. With the spread of cargo e-bikes, which combine electric traction with load capacity, bikepacking has changed and evolved because what are called bike campers have increased (even if in reality they are more caravans).

The new Scout camper from the German company CreCon is certainly one of the most interested models. Made to be transported inside an ebike cart, called Tough (it can be purchased separately), once unfolded, it becomes a small bedroom, providing the camper, in addition to the sleeping area, also a relaxation area For the day.

The German company states that it takes about 3 minutes to unfold the camper hidden inside the trolley. One of the peculiarities of the Scout camper module is that it can be used independently of the trolley. Then, once the camper has arrived at its destination and assembled, the user can use all the 550 liters of the load capacity of the Tough trolley to transport work tools, luggage or food.

Moreover, thanks to a particular three-layer conformation of the trolley, even when traveling it is possible to use the 30 liters of the upper layer to deposit some objects that must be within reach, such as water and food.

It is possible to tow the Tough / Scout combination as a large "box", of rather compact size, positioned approximately at the height of the bicycle saddle. Trolley and camper weigh together 47 kg (the Scout module 19 kg). There are different sizes of the Scout camper module; the medium-sized variant, the “Center”, measures 144 cm in length, 95 cm in width and 99 cm in height.

Once you have reached the desired destination where you want to stop, you need to rotate the outer part of the Scout by 90 degrees, positioning it vertically. In this way the module measures 180 cm in height and to complete the construction simply connect the other two structural components to the roof.

Once the construction of the sleeping area has been completed, it will be sufficient to open the telescopic poles that support the three awnings of the external veranda, which will allow you to take advantage of a small relaxation area integrated, but outside the sleeping area. The awning kit, which is an optional fee of 450 euros, consists of curtains in waterproof fabric.

Inside the sleeping area, the bed measures 190 x 90 cm, practically reaching the size of a standard bed, ensuring space for a single adult. The second person can use the awning extension kit if desired.

The Scout camper module is available in three different versions, which differ in size: compact, center and comfort.

The Tough trailer includes a hydraulic overrun brake and connects to the bike through a lockable Weber coupling.

CreaCon, in addition to the awning kit, offers a variety of other accessories designed to be used with the RV, including the PVC tent floor, a folding table, a sunbed and a solar panel kit.
