Balance bike

Balance bikes, bicycles without pedals and without wheels, ideal for stimulating the balance skills of children from 1 and a half to 4 years who approach two wheels, are increasingly chosen by families all over the world. That they were not toys as they have been experienced in the past, is demonstrated by fine studies. Now, in this segment where so far you could find in addition to steel and aluminum bikes produced for a few tens of euros in plastic but also refined wooden models, preferred especially in northern Europe, the extreme bike arrives.

A concentrate of technique and futuristic solutions but above all with a record weight of just 2.1 kilograms, proposed by the Californian manufacturer Specialized, a favorite of professional cycling champions. It's called Hotwalk Carbon, the innovative bike built by the Morgan Hill house that immediately stands out for its futuristic frame, without interruptions and welds, a two-tone livery in light blue and carbon, wide tires and matte rims. What is striking, however, is the technology used for this bike intended for children up to four years. In fact, the designers built the Hotwalk Carbon as if they were building a racing bike for racing. "If we want to inspire the new generation of cyclists, children deserve better bikes" sums up the Silicon Valley manufacturer, "that's why we use our experience in creating bikes for World Champions to also design proportionately balanced bikes for them, dedicating attention to every little detail to create unparalleled quality for such a small bike ".

Taking inspiration from a visit to the Bike Week fair in Taiwan, some Specialized designers started sketching a new children's bike. Back at the headquarters and shown the work to the managers, they immediately obtained approval with the technical project then entrusted to the engineers who took care of the most important professional bikes in the range such as the Tarmac SL7 and Stumpjumpers. This team has built a bike with a new geometry designed specifically for children and not one for adults in miniature. FACT 9r carbon fiber was used for the frame. Fork and wheels are always in carbon fiber while the handlebar has a smaller diameter than the other balance bikes on the market. Custom Rhythm Lite tires (with Hotwalk lettering) have been fitted, wide to increase stability but among the lightest on the market. And as for riders who are forced to spend hours on the bike, they chose the Body Geometry low-friction saddle with built-in handle to allow the parent to support the little cyclist or to carry the bike easily. The result is a bike weighing just over two kilos, about half the lightest in circulation so far, with an innovative design capable of withstanding a weight of up to 18 kg. "We have created something that so far two-year-olds could only dream of" rejoice at Morgan Hill, "all for an unforgettable first cycling experience". And the price of this bike is also unforgettable, at 999 euros.
