Parigi è l'esempio più calzante di come si possa rendere ciclabile una metropoli.
Non esistono città inadatte alle bici ma esistono città dove si è lavorato per la mobilità ciclabile e città che sono state abbandonate alle auto.
Sono tante le iniziative che sono state messe in atto: strade riservate alle scuole, abbonamenti a prezzi ridotti per il bike sharing con la prima mezzora di uso gratuito, abbonamento mensile al servizio di 3,10 euro, penalizzazione del traffico automobilistico con limitazioni di velocità e aumento dei costi dei parcheggi.
La capitale francese non è certo una cittadina di provincia, dove il traffico è ridotto e bastano poche piste ciclabili. Parigi è una capitale europea, con milioni di abitanti, centinaia di migliaia di turisti, un hinterland vastissimo che gravita sul centro.
Il traffico è intenso, a volte caotico. Eppure, Parigi oggi è piena di biciclette, di piste ciclabili, di isole pedonali dove la gente passeggia, socializza e consuma.
In ogni angolo della Ville Lumière è possibile usufruire del bike sharing.
