Pilot

In recent times, electrified bicycles have stolen the show from muscle ones. Above all, when it comes to what the future of pedaling will be like. On the contrary, the classic bicycles will still be there, but frames and wheels will be held together by systems designed ad hoc. Thus, the spokes will disappear, they will be super light, not to mention the increasingly attractive and at the same time elegant design.

Pilot was born in 2020, many are wondering if it will ever see the light, at the moment it is a bicycle in continuous evolution and its creator has estimated that for the next 5-10 years he will continue to work on it, to make it more and more performing and suitable for needs of urban cyclists. Here, the first clue, Pilot will be a bike for those who move around the city every day and we add that riding this model will not go unnoticed.

From the images, the bicycle will be without hubs and fully reflects one of the main features of the future of this vehicle: unique design and stylistic details. All the transmission equipment will be hidden in a box located in the bottom bracket part of the bicycle, where it will then be possible to install the electric motor. While, the battery will be integrated into the down tube of the frame, then easily removable for charging. The frame will be in light aluminum, with minimal and essential lines and will have no front fork.

Furthermore, since there are no spokes, the space will be dedicated to a multipurpose container and fixed in the support placed in the rear part of the box, which contains the transmission. The handlebar bar will be a concentrate of technology, in fact, Cerwinka has designed a space for placing the smartphone, where it will be possible through a dedicated App to monitor all the parameters of the bicycle. There is also the LED lighting system.

The designer Franz Cerwinka, comments and tells how the Pilot concept was born: “From my first year of college I have always commuted to and from school on my bicycle. For me and millions of others, cycling is the fastest, most efficient and environmentally friendly way to get around. This number is set to double in the coming decades as cities and urban centers continue to grow rapidly. Pilot's design goal was to create a more luxurious next-generation bicycle that would offer high-tech features for the cities of the future. A new generation commuter bike had to have a striking and elegant design while at the same time meeting certain user needs and expectations.

From the start, I knew I wanted to limit the design to a bike without a hub thanks to its attractive aesthetics and additional functionality. I explored various shapes from edgy and industrial looks to more fluid and organic shapes. I exhibited a wide range of possible design variations in the form of quick and dirty sketches and 3D models to narrow it down to the final direction of the project ”.
