3 donne che hanno scelto di pedalare (pt 3)

 Valentina Dogliani

Valentina Dogliani

When she started pedaling, no one could understand her choice, yet Valentina Dogliani, 47, owner of the Boscareto Resort & Spa in the Langhe, knew it was the right thing to do, "because nothing happens by chance," she says. . «I approached the world of racing bikes intrigued by a friend's story.

He told me that according to him I had the right body, being a bit "trugnetta", as they say in Piedmontese when you are a bit round. So I threw myself in and the next day I was riding a rental bike which, although it wasn't even my size, I immediately loved it so much that in the end I bought it. And I never got off the bike. I'm sure it was destiny ». In fact, due to a series of circumstances, some time later she learned that her great-uncle had been a champion in the 1920s and she had participated in two Tours of Italy. «I had it in my DNA, I just had to find out how wonderful pedaling was and I'm lucky enough to be able to do it in magical territory. But riding a bicycle also takes you far, perhaps to run a race, and so, despite the effort, you discover wonderful places together with people who share your same passion ».

And it is precisely in this way that destiny revealed itself once again to Valentina: «One of the experiences that I carry in my heart is the journey to Santiago by bicycle and this was not a coincidence either. I had made a vow: if a certain thing had happened, I would have followed that path. That thing happened and out of nowhere, some of the hotel guests, who became friends thanks to this common love, proposed to me to make the journey with them and I left. Moreover, my great-uncle was called Giacomo - Santiago, in Spanish - it cannot be just a coincidence ».
