Ciclismo e sicurezza: l'Europa guarda a regole comuni

La sicurezza dei ciclisti è stata al centro del convegno "La bicicletta al centro della mobilità, sicurezza e innovazione normativa", ospitato al Parlamento europeo in occasione della Giornata Mondiale della Bicicletta.

L'incontro ha riunito rappresentanti delle istituzioni europee, della Federazione Ciclistica Italiana e del mondo sportivo con un obiettivo comune: rendere le strade più sicure per chi sceglie di muoversi in bicicletta.

Tra i temi affrontati, la necessità di promuovere una maggiore educazione stradale, realizzare infrastrutture sempre più sicure e definire regole condivise a livello europeo per proteggere i ciclisti.

L'eurodeputata Lara Magoni ha ricordato che ogni anno in Europa perdono la vita circa 2.000 ciclisti e ha sottolineato l'importanza di una strategia comune che favorisca una mobilità più sicura per tutti.

Particolarmente significativa la testimonianza della campionessa di paraciclismo Claudia Cretti, sopravvissuta al grave incidente durante il Giro d'Italia Femminile del 2017. Il suo messaggio è stato semplice ma molto forte: "Il casco mi ha salvato la vita."

Anche il presidente della Federazione Ciclistica Italiana, Cordiano Dagnoni, ha ribadito il valore della bicicletta non solo come sport, ma anche come strumento di benessere, educazione e mobilità sostenibile.

La sicurezza sulle strade resta una responsabilità condivisa. Infrastrutture migliori, rispetto reciproco tra tutti gli utenti della strada e comportamenti responsabili sono elementi fondamentali per permettere a sempre più persone di vivere la bicicletta in serenità.

Cycling Safety: A Call for Common Rules Across Europe

Cycling safety was the focus of the conference "Cycling at the Heart of Mobility, Safety and Regulatory Innovation", held at the European Parliament to mark World Bicycle Day.

The event brought together European institutions, the Italian Cycling Federation and representatives from the cycling community to discuss how to make roads safer for everyone who rides a bike.

Key topics included improving road safety education, investing in better cycling infrastructure and developing common European standards to better protect cyclists.

MEP Lara Magoni highlighted that around 2,000 cyclists lose their lives on European roads every year, stressing the need for a shared strategy to improve safety across all member states.

One of the most moving moments came from para-cycling champion Claudia Cretti, who survived a life-threatening crash during the 2017 Giro d'Italia Women. Her message was clear: "My helmet saved my life."

Italian Cycling Federation President Cordiano Dagnoni also underlined the value of cycling as more than just a sport, describing it as a powerful tool for health, education and sustainable mobility.

Safer roads depend on everyone. Better infrastructure, mutual respect between road users and responsible behaviour are essential to encourage more people to choose the bicycle with confidence.

ORBIS: l'app che trova il percorso in bici più fresco e sicuro

 Immaginate un navigatore che non vi indichi solo la strada più breve, ma anche quella più sicura, meno impegnativa e persino più fresca nelle giornate estive.

È questa l'idea alla base di ORBIS (Open Routing for Bike Intermodal Systems), il nuovo progetto sviluppato da SuperUrbanity e vincitore del programma europeo EIT Urban Mobility RAPTOR 2026.

L'app utilizza intelligenza artificiale e dati aggiornati in tempo reale per proporre diversi itinerari in base alle esigenze del ciclista: il più veloce, il più sicuro, il meno ripido, il più panoramico o quello con maggiore ombreggiatura durante le giornate più calde.

Il progetto pilota prenderà il via a Trento, città da anni all'avanguardia nella mobilità sostenibile, dove cittadini e turisti potranno testare il servizio entro la fine del 2026.

Oltre a migliorare l'esperienza di chi pedala, ORBIS aiuterà anche le amministrazioni locali a raccogliere dati utili per sviluppare reti ciclabili sempre più efficienti e sicure.

Una dimostrazione concreta di come tecnologia e ciclismo possano lavorare insieme per rendere gli spostamenti quotidiani più piacevoli, sostenibili e accessibili.

ORBIS: The Smart App That Finds the Coolest and Safest Cycling Route

Imagine a cycling navigation app that doesn't simply choose the shortest route, but also the safest, easiest and even the coolest one on hot summer days.

That's the idea behind ORBIS (Open Routing for Bike Intermodal Systems), a new project developed by SuperUrbanity and selected by the EIT Urban Mobility RAPTOR 2026 programme.

Using artificial intelligence and real-time data, the app offers different route options based on each rider's preferences: the fastest, the safest, the least hilly, the most scenic or the most shaded during warm weather.

The pilot project will start in Trento, one of Italy's leading cities for sustainable mobility, where residents and visitors will be able to test the service by the end of 2026.

Beyond improving the cycling experience, ORBIS will also provide valuable data to local authorities, helping them plan safer and more efficient cycling networks.

A great example of how technology can make everyday cycling smarter, more comfortable and more sustainable.
