“Safety in numbers”

The safest places to cycle are those with high cycle use.
More and safer cycling can, and should, go hand in hand
.

That's the message of CTC's Safety in Numbers campaign which explains that the more people cycle, the safer it is for each individual cyclist, since places with high levels of cycling are associated with lower risks.
Possible reasons for the "Safety in numbers" effect are:
  • Drivers are more aware of cyclists
  • Drivers are more likely to be cyclists themselves
  • There is greater political will to improve cycling conditions, such as building infrastructure, reducing speed or increasing enforcement of traffic law
We want to halve the risk of cycling and double the numbers at the same time.
Unfortunately current road safety techniques merely count the number of casualties, not the risk. With a substantial increase in cycling, the numbers of cyclists being injured is likely to increase, even if the overall risk falls. Only by changing the way we measure safety from absolute numbers to risk will we be in a position where cycling can be encouraged without leading to conflicting local authority objectives.
In response to pressure from CTC, the Government has adopted an indicator for cycle safety based on risk per mile travelled, not simply numbers of deaths or injuries. This is a major step, but it needs to be followed up by local authorities following the Government's lead.
Taking steps to increase cycling - and at the same time improve safety - will benefit our streets, our health, our communities and the environment, as well as improving safety for all road users.
So how do we do this?
By tackling the fears which prevent people from cycling more. That means:
  • Making the road environment more cycle-friendly, by reducing traffic volumes and speeds and by providing high-quality cycling infrastructure
  • Improving driver behaviour, through training and awareness campaigns, backed by stronger traffic law and enforcement
  • Reducing the threats posed by lorries
  • Funding schemes that promote cycling positively and improve confidence, e.g. making cycle training widely available for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities.

Nexo Tires

A rugged rubber that can not pierce and, moreover, does not have the air chamber or the pressure to keep it in tubeless tires.

The tires are full, without holes, a feature that offers a practical and functional solution.
In the tire industry the difference is made by the choice of materials and mixes.
In the case of a bike these choices must follow one direction: weight control without neglecting the longevity of the tires.

In this case the Nexo Tires would look excellent, they also have a reduced weight of 35% compared to the full tires already on the market. Even with regard to longevity they seem very promising. Laboratory tests carried out by loading a bike with about 50 Kg per wheel, making it travel on abrasive paper 400 at a speed of 30 Km / h have shown that they can last well over 5,000 kilometers.

Rinsten Spring

It is a simple and universal cushioned seat that fits any bicycle tip!

It absorbs all the roughness without needing any maintenance. It is compatible with all bikes because it interferes between saddle and saddle using the universal coupling system.

Thanks to its shape it is possible to vary the lever point by covering all body weights up to a maximum of 220 kg.

Rinsten Spring also cushions lateral oscillations, so it works in two dimensions (vertically and laterally), leaving space for the saddle under the saddle.

The end result is a more relaxed driving experience that requires less muscular effort and saves valuable energy.

Stirling Seatpack

It is a colorful, durable and ecological bike bag produced by Upso.
Stirling Seatpack is produced in Lancashire by reclaiming local materials, mainly waterproof tarpaulins that, recycled, provide the basic fabric for this bike accessory.

Placed both under the saddle and in front of the handlebar, this cylindrical bag has a particular appearance due to both the materials used and the chromatic choices.

Completely waterproof due to the recycled material with which it is made up, as well as the zippered waterproof, which is embellished with two clips made from recycled fireproof sleeves.

Another peculiarity of Stirling Seatpack is that it is practically always in limited edition, as the colors match constantly and make each bag an item in its own right.
