[…] Il vento sul viso, il rumore dei copertoni che rotolano sull’asfalto. In questo momento… mi sento vivo! Sì, proprio come quando incrociavo lo sguardo soddisfatto di mio padre. Ah, mio padre. Poco fa ho visto un ragazzino che si faceva una pedalata con il suo di padre, ridevano, si divertivano. Il mio era un uomo di poche parole ma deciso e capace di grandi gesti. Eh sì, perché quando cresci tra Secondigliano e Scampia, periferia nord, devi essere consapevole del pericolo che ti circonda. Lì sì che la camorra controlla ogni angolo e pure la vita delle persone, e per uno come me, era facile cadere nella loro rete. E in realtà… ci sono cascato, per un breve periodo, negli anni 90! Già, frequentavo un clan di camorristi, ero “un affiliato” […]

Si apre così la prima puntata del podcast GENTE DI BICI, presentata in anteprima venerdì 10 novembre in occasione del Giro d’Onore 2023, che ha premiato gli atleti delle due ruote vanto ed orgoglio dello sport italiano.

Una serie di episodi originali prodotti da Dr Podcast, Audio Factory internazionale con sede a Londra e studi di registrazione nelle principali capitali europee, dedicati alle storie di valore in cui la bicicletta e il mondo dello sport in generale si intrecciano a racconti di vita e di rivincita personale.

La prima voce di Gente di Bici è quella di RAFFAELE “LELLO” FERRARA: un vero e proprio flusso di coscienza, in cui condivide con l’ascoltatore gioie e dolori, tra ricordi del passato e vicende più recenti. Come la prima gara in bicicletta “contro la camorra”, a cui l’ha obbligato a partecipare il padre per tenerlo lontano da “quel mondo prepotente e oscuro” o il successo ottenuto sui social grazie alle riconoscibilissime e divertenti dirette Instagram, in cui ha svelato gli aspetti più “umani” di campioni del calibro di Vincenzo Nibali.

“E così, così la Federazione mi chiama e inizio questo nuovo viaggio che sto percorrendo […] Vado in giro per il mondo a seguire le gare, conosco molti atleti, molti giornalisti, i meccanici… Parlo con loro e racconto le loro storie! Lo faccio a modo mio, faccio vedere il dietro le quinte, quello che la televisione non mostra”.

In mezzo “l’affiliazione” a un clan di camorristi, i 10 anni di carriera in sella e i titoli raggiunti, la morte del papà e il conseguente abbandono della bici, l’esperienza come camionista e le numerose salite e discese della sua vita, qui affrontate come si affronta una pedalata liberatoria, quasi a perdifiato.

“Quanto è speciale il ciclismo. Non è solo uno sport, è una filosofia di vita […] il ciclismo, senza saperlo, mi ha fatto crescere e mi ha dato tanto”.

La storia di RAFFAELE “LELLO” FERRARA, così come le altre storie che verranno raccontate nel podcast e che saranno registrate nelle prossime settimane, sono parte integrante del progetto omonimo GENTE DI BICI, studiato da Action per la Federazione Ciclistica Italiana.

There, the Camorra controls every corner and even people's lives, and for someone like me, it was easy to fall into their network. And actually… I fell for it, for a short time, in the 90s! This is how the first episode of the GENTE DI BICI podcast opens, premiered on Friday 10 November on the occasion of the 2023 Giro d'Onore, which rewarded the two-wheel athletes who are the pride and joy of Italian sport.

A series of original episodes produced by Dr Podcast, the international Audio Factory based in London and recording studios in the main European capitals, dedicated to stories of value in which cycling and the world of sport in general are intertwined with stories of life and personal revenge.

The first voice of Gente di Bici is that of RAFFAELE "LELLO" FERRARA: a real stream of consciousness, in which he shares joys and sorrows with the listener, between memories of the past and more recent events. Like the first bicycle race "against the Camorra", in which his father forced him to participate to keep him away from "that overbearing and dark world" or the success achieved on social media thanks to the very recognizable and funny Instagram live broadcasts, in which he revealed the more "human" aspects of champions of the caliber of Vincenzo Nibali.

“And so, so the Federation calls me and I begin this new journey that I am on […] I go around the world to follow the races, I know many athletes, many journalists, the mechanics… I talk to them and tell their stories! I do it my way, I show behind the scenes, what television doesn't show."

In between the "affiliation" to a Camorra clan, the 10-year career in the saddle and the titles achieved, the death of his father and the consequent abandonment of the bike, the experience as a truck driver and the numerous ups and downs of his life, here you will experience how to tackle a liberating ride, almost at breakneck speed.

The story of RAFFAELE “LELLO” FERRARA, as well as the other stories that will be told in the podcast and which will be recorded in the coming weeks, are an integral part of the GENTE DI BICI project of the same name, studied by Action for the Italian Cycling Federation.
