Il parcheggio per biciclette di Stationsplein ad Amsterdam può ospitare 7000 biciclette, mentre un secondo, che verrà inaugurato nelle prossime settimane, ne potrà ospitare 4000.
Il parcheggio bici si trova di fronte all'ingresso principale della Stazione Centrale, nella parte di Prins Hendrikkade che fino al 2018 fungeva da stazione degli autobus.
Sostituisce quello multipiano, sovraccarico e obsoleto, che da decenni si trovava di fronte alla stazione dei treni. Stationsplein, costato 60 milioni di euro e che si trova a 4,82 metri sotto il livello del mare, è infatti collegato sottoterra alla sala della metropolitana e Amsterdam Centraal. Il design è stato realizzato in collaborazione con il Museo di Amsterdam.
Dei tapis roulant portano i ciclisti a 9 metri di profondità «in un'ostrica immaginaria con un esterno grezzo di basalto e pietra naturale e un interno liscio e leggero» dicono i progettisti di wUrck.
La sosta è gratuita per le prime 24 ore, poi costa 1,35 euro per altre 24 ore. A febbraio verrà inaugurata una secondo «parcheggio subacqueo» per 4.000 biciclette, del costo di 25 milioni di euro, sul viale IJboulevard, dietro la stazione.
Gli 882.000 abitanti di Amsterdam posseggono 900.000 biciclette. (di E.B)
The Stationsplein bicycle park in Amsterdam can accommodate 7,000 bicycles, while a second one, due to open in the coming weeks, will be able to accommodate 4,000.
The bike park is located in front of the main entrance to the Central Station, in the part of Prins Hendrikkade which until 2018 served as a bus station.
It replaces the multi-storey, overloaded and obsolete one which had been in front of the train station for decades. Stationsplein, which cost 60 million euros and is 4.82 meters below sea level, is in fact connected underground to the metro hall and Amsterdam Centraal. The design was created in collaboration with the Amsterdam Museum.
Treadmills take cyclists 9 meters down "into an imaginary oyster with a rough exterior of basalt and natural stone and a smooth, light interior," say the wUrck designers.
Parking is free for the first 24 hours, then it costs €1.35 for another 24 hours. In February, a second "underwater parking" will be inaugurated for 4,000 bicycles, costing 25 million euros, on the IJboulevard, behind the station.
The 882,000 inhabitants of Amsterdam own 900,000 bicycles. (by E.B)
