Italy Bike Hotels Day 2026: The Future of Cycling Tourism

On 15 October 2026, we took part in the second edition of Italy Bike Hotels Day, an event dedicated to cycling tourism, bike hospitality and the future of cycling holidays. The event was held at TTG Travel Experience at Rimini Expo Centre.

It was a valuable opportunity to meet industry professionals, exchange experiences and explore the changes shaping the cycling tourism market.

The event was expertly organised by Italy Bike Hotels, Italy’s leading consortium dedicated to bike hospitality, which season after season guides hoteliers through the exciting world of cycling tourism. Through training, knowledge sharing, professional networking and new collaboration opportunities, Italy Bike Hotels supports accommodation providers in developing and enhancing their services, helping them better understand the needs of cycling tourists and navigate the evolving challenges of the market. A valuable point of reference for businesses like ours, which believe in the potential of cycling tourism and are committed to continuously investing in quality, expertise and genuine hospitality.

Cycling tourism is evolving: new needs, new opportunities

The programme addressed some of the key topics facing bike-friendly accommodation providers today.

Cristian Gemmato, cyclist, author and travel organiser for the German market, explored emerging trends and the different ways people experience cycling holidays today. There is no longer just one type of cycling tourist: expectations, motivations and travel preferences are becoming increasingly diverse.

Andrea Manusia, journalist and member of the Cycling Department of the Emilia-Romagna Region, presented Emilia-Romagna as a successful example of cycling tourism development, highlighting the importance of cooperation between destinations, tourism products and local businesses.

Gianluca Tonti, Web Analyst at Area38, focused on artificial intelligence, new search engines and multichannel strategies, explaining how accommodation providers can improve their online visibility and make it easier for cycling tourists to find and choose the right hotel.

The event also included an open discussion among hoteliers, offering an opportunity to share practical experiences, strategies and best practices.

Our contribution: understanding the needs of international cycling tourists

Alexander Bike Hotel also took part in the discussion, sharing our perspective on the needs of international cycling tourists and the importance of welcoming guests from different markets and cultural backgrounds.

Working with international visitors means understanding their expectations, habits and specific requirements, while providing suitable services and an experience that goes beyond simply staying at a hotel.

This is something we know well. Since 2001, we have been welcoming cyclists to Gabicce Mare, helping them discover an area where the Adriatic Sea meets rolling hills, historic villages and beautiful natural landscapes.

Over the years, we have learned how important it is to listen to our guests, know the local area, pay attention to the details and adapt our services to different needs and preferences. Every cycling tourist has their own expectations, and creating a memorable holiday means recognising those needs and turning them into an authentic experience.

Growing together to shape the future of cycling tourism

Italy Bike Hotels Day was a valuable opportunity for learning, inspiration and networking, as well as a chance to look ahead and explore new ideas.

Cycling tourism continues to evolve, and bike hospitality must evolve with it. Sharing knowledge and experiences with other professionals is essential to improving services and making destinations increasingly attractive to people who choose to explore by bike.

At Alexander Bike Hotel, cycling tourism has been our passion since 2001. We believe in genuine hospitality, collaboration among tourism professionals and the value of creating authentic experiences that every cyclist can remember and share.

A special thank you to Italy Bike Hotels for organising this event and for continuing to support the growth of the sector, guiding hoteliers on a journey built on new ideas, expertise and opportunities.

Because the future of cycling tourism is something we build together, one pedal stroke at a time.
