In almost ten years of professionalism Marco Pantani has won just over thirty races, a modest haul when compared to those of Coppi or Merckx, Moser or Cipollini. Yet the Pirate has conquered the history and the people of cycling as no one has been able to do for a long time.
Because he was a climber who came from the sea. Because he took off on the Mortirolo and the Galibier but he fell into cocaine and depression. Because he chased love but it ended in shit. Because he was a lonely man. On the tenth anniversary of his death, Marco Pastonesi reconstructs Pantani's career by collecting the unpublished testimonies of those who knew him closely: his followers, sports managers, friends from the piadina shops.
A polyphony of unexpected voices that restore the Romagna from which he has never separated, the mountains that have consecrated him as a myth, the climbers of the past to whom he was heir, and the weaknesses of man: doping, told here by a perspective that undermines clichés about the phenomenon and drugs.
"If Pantani was a soloist, and a loner," the author writes in the introduction, "this book is the chorus of Greek tragedies, it is the band that accompanies a coffin in the funeral of New Orleans, it is a hundred storytellers who tell the deeds of a warrior, a bandit, a pirate, and it is also a geographical map.
Here there is no judgement, there is no sentence, there is no verdict, there is no order of arrival or general ranking.
Everyone has his version."

CAMPUS.BIKE CONVENTION
It was created to elevate and renew cycling methodologies, to provide the tools and skills, encouraging their sharing.
The mission of Campus.Bike is therefore to raise the scientific level of the entire world of cycling, thanks to better preparation of all professionals, from sports directors to athletic trainers and to a greater awareness of the athletes themselves towards their own bodies.
Campus.Bike Convention is the moment of physical meeting between the actors of the New Cycling.
“We have always done it this way” is the death of any innovation: this is the phrase that opened the first edition of the Campus Bike Convention, held over the weekend (2/3 Decembre, 2023) in Bologna and which addressed the over fifty interventions dedicated to scientific innovation in cycling.
There were more than 200 participants in the first edition of Campus Bike Convention, coming from all over Italy, with many young faces: "Innovation must start from habits and question them: this is the best way to identify and overcome false myths , because if we continue to do what we have always done we will hardly obtain better results” declares Omar Gatti, director of the health division of Bikenomist who organized the event. “By bringing together prestigious speakers and a selected audience who fueled the debate, we have contributed to a reflection that we hope will guide the present and future of Italian cycling, in particular as regards the youth movement”.

Two months ago, she was able to overcome the fifty kilometer barrier in one hour: the first woman in history to do so. Now our movement, in addition to having the male record with Filippo Ganna (56, 792 km), can also boast of the one obtained in Aguascalientes last October 13th, by this 37-year-old Roman professor who in one hour covered exactly 50 kilometers and 267 meters.
Graduated in Mathematics from Sapienza with a doctorate from Oxford, Vittoria built her record with scruple and dedication. «We tried to do something completely against the trend,' the record holder who in 2018 had already set the record by covering 48,007 km, told us. We studied the scientific literature keeping in mind that cycling is not mathematics but statistics, and that perhaps I could represent the case study not yet examined."
«I went to Rouleur Live in London. When I introduced myself to Pendred and told him that I wanted to use their bicycle to take back the hour record, he was moved. I immediately understood that the adventure was starting well. We launched Road2Record, which in reality had already been in place for months: two years of overall commitment, two because I was obviously attempting the second record."
