Due mesi fa, è stata capace di superare la barriera dei cinquanta chilometri in un'ora: la prima donna della storia a riuscirci. Ora il nostro movimento oltre ad avere il primato maschile con Filippo Ganna (56, 792 km), può fregiarsi anche di quello ottenuto a Aguascalientes il 13 ottobre scorso, da questa 37enne professoressa romana che in un'ora ha percorso per l'esattezza 50 chilometri e 267 metri.
Laureata in Matematica alla Sapienza con dottorato a Oxford, Vittoria ha costruito il suo record con scrupolo e dedizione. «Abbiamo cercato di fare qualcosa in totale controtendenza ci ha raccontato la primatista che nel 2018 aveva già stabilito il record percorrendo 48,007 km -. Abbiamo studiato la letteratura scientifica tenendo presente che il ciclismo non è matematica bensì statistica, e che magari io potevo rappresentare il caso studio non ancora esaminato».
«Andai al Rouleur Live di Londra. Quando mi presentai a Pendred dicendogli che volevo utilizzare la loro bicicletta per riprendermi il record dell'ora, lui si è commosse. Capii subito che l'avventura iniziava bene. Lanciammo Road2Record, che in realtà era già in essere da mesi: due come gli anni d'impegno complessivo, due in quanto ovviamente stavo tentando il secondo record».

Graduated in Mathematics from Sapienza with a doctorate from Oxford, Vittoria built her record with scruple and dedication. «We tried to do something completely against the trend,' the record holder who in 2018 had already set the record by covering 48,007 km, told us. We studied the scientific literature keeping in mind that cycling is not mathematics but statistics, and that perhaps I could represent the case study not yet examined."
«I went to Rouleur Live in London. When I introduced myself to Pendred and told him that I wanted to use their bicycle to take back the hour record, he was moved. I immediately understood that the adventure was starting well. We launched Road2Record, which in reality had already been in place for months: two years of overall commitment, two because I was obviously attempting the second record."
