Alessandria città delle biciclette

Ha aperto il 1 dicembre a Palazzo del Monferrato, ad Alessandria ,“in famiglia”, con campioni e di famiglie di campioni del presente e passato: la due volte olimpionica su pista Antonella Bellutti, in compagnia del ct della nazionale Davide Cassani, della giovane promessa ciclistica alessandrina Gaia Tortolina, i nipoti del grande Luigi Malabrocca e di Costante Girardengo, la figlia di Fausto Coppi e Carola Gentilini, direttrice del Museo Ghisallo.

Il museo ripropone in modo permanente la retrospettiva sulla prima bicicletta giunta in Italia da Parigi ad Alessandria, nel 1867. Una storia affidata a reperti, documenti, mappe, installazioni multimediali e biciclette d’epoca, organizzati per aree tematiche.

Significativa, nel giorno dell’inaugurazione, la testimonianza di Antonella Bellutti, due volte medaglia d’oro consecutiva ai Giochi Olimpici nella specialità della pista (Atlanta 1996 e Sydney 2000). La campionessa ha sottolineato come la lotta per le donne sia tuttora in corso per conquistare un ruolo adeguato sia nel ciclismo sia nel mondo dello sport. “Un museo per la bicicletta è qualcosa di prezioso e speciale”, ha affermato. “E’ simbolo di una delle grandi battaglie del nostro tempo, quella dell’emancipazione femminile e della lotta alle discriminazioni. La storia delle suffragette ha portato alle donne la libertà di pedalare. Ma c’è ancora tanta salita da percorrere e sarebbe bello un giorno vedere uomini e donne dello sport pedalare insieme. Senza la libertà e il rispetto dovuto alle donne, non c’è democrazia. L’unica catena che ci rende liberi è quella della bicicletta“.
