Addio grande campione

Cycling cries, sport cries.
Felice Gimondi died yesterday afternoon.
The world of sport woke up a little more lonely after the death of Felice Gimondi, the great cycling champion who died yesterday at the age of 76 following an illness that caught him while he was bathing in the waters of Giardini Naxos , in Sicily.
Even the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, wanted to recall the figure of Gimondi expressing his condolences in a note and recalling the many successes that have given prestige to Italy in sport and its style of great value in sporting and human behavior ".
Strong uphill and time trial and fast enough in the sprint, in 14 years of professionalism he won three Giri d'Italia (1967, 1969 and 1976), a Tour de France (1965) and a Vuelta (1968).
He is among the magnificent seven to have won all the Great Tours together with Eddy Merckx (of whom he was rival), Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali and Chris Froome.
