Qual è il miglior lucchetto per la nostra bici?

Capita molto spesso che le nostre bici vengano rubate per essere rivendute o per riciclarne i vari componenti. Diventa quindi importante mettere al sicuro la propria bicicletta dotandosi di un sistema antifurto, ma orientarsi tra i diversi tipi di lucchetto per capire quale faccia al caso nostro non è sempre facile, vista l’offerta sempre più ampia di prodotti sul mercato.

La tipologia di lucchetto ne determina sia la praticità che la sicurezza, ed è il primo fattore da prendere in considerazione per la scelta del proprio lucchetto da bici.
Una prima distinzione va fatta in base al tipo di chiusura del sistema antifurto:

Chiusura

• Con chiave: questo tipo di lucchetti per bici si apre e si chiude con una chiave di sicurezza. Questa chiusura può essere preferibile perché non ha una combinazione da ricordare a memoria, ma se si opta per questa serratura è bene assicurarsi che sia antiscasso. Alcuni modelli con chiave sono inoltre dotati di una comoda lucina che facilita l'apertura in condizioni di poca luce, ad esempio durante la notte;
• Con combinazione: la chiusura con combinazione prevede l'inserimento di un codice di 4 o 5 cifre per poter sbloccare la catena antifurto. Rispetto a quello con serratura a chiave, un lucchetto di questo tipo scongiura il rischio di forzatura del meccanismo di chiusura e può essere la scelta migliore per chi ha paura di dimenticare o perdere le chiavi. 

 È opportuno ricordare che, nella scelta del lucchetto ideale per la propria bici, la struttura della catena ha un ruolo più importante rispetto alla chiusura, perché determina sia la praticità dell'antifurto che il grado di sicurezza offerto.
Vediamo i tipi più diffusi di catena per bici:

• Catena classica: uno degli antifurti per bici più tradizionali, è una catena in metallo solitamente rivestita da una guaina in plastica o in tessuto per evitare che la catena si deteriori o risulti troppo rumorosa;
• Catena snodabile: un'evoluzione della classica catena per bici, è composta da una serie di piastre di metallo unite tra loro che dopo l'utilizzo si ripiegano su se stesse. Una volta ripiegate le piastre, il lucchetto occupa poco spazio e può essere comodamente trasportato senza particolari problemi;
• Cavo: un tubo flessibile realizzato con filamenti di acciaio e ricoperto di tessuto o plastica, può essere rigido e corto oppure una spirale da arrotolare al telaio mentre si guida;
• Lucchetto a U: o U-lock, è una sorta di lucchetto gigante formato da un archetto in metallo - che non presenta elementi flessibili - collegato a un cilindro in cui è presente la serratura, e rivestito da un materiale protettivo. Sebbene siano i modelli più ingombranti - possono essere considerati i più affidabili. La mancanza di elementi mobili li rende infatti molto più resistenti.

A meno che il vostro budget non sia limitato, è consigliabile non andare al risparmio quando si vuole acquistare un lucchetto. È bene infatti acquistare un prodotto che sia affidabile e duri nel tempo. I prezzi dei lucchetti partono di solito dai 15 euro e possono arrivare a superare anche i 100 euro. Fare un buon investimento può garantire una maggior sicurezza alla bici. In ogni caso il maggiore o minor prezzo del prodotto solitamente dipende dalla qualità dei materiali di cui è composto il lucchetto.

Some models with key are also equipped with a handy light that facilitates opening in low light conditions, for example during the night;

With combination: the combination lock involves the insertion of a 4 or 5-digit code to unlock the anti-theft chain. Compared to the one with a key lock, a lock of this type avoids the risk of forcing the locking mechanism and can be the best choice for those who are afraid of forgetting or losing their keys.

 It should be remembered that when choosing the ideal padlock for your bike, the chain structure plays a more important role than closing it, because it determines both the practicality of the anti-theft device and the degree of security offered.

Let's see the most common types of bike chain:

Classic chain: one of the most traditional anti-theft devices for bicycles, it is a metal chain usually covered with a plastic or fabric sheath to prevent the chain from deteriorating or being too noisy;

Jointed chain: an evolution of the classic bike chain, it is composed of a series of metal plates joined together which fold back on themselves after use. Once the plates are folded, the padlock takes up little space and can be easily transported without any particular problems;

Cable: a flexible tube made of steel filaments and covered with fabric or plastic, can be rigid and short or a spiral to be rolled up to the frame while driving;

U-shaped lock: U-lock, is a kind of giant padlock formed by a metal arch - which has no flexible elements - connected to a cylinder in which the lock is present, and covered with a protective material. Although they are the most cumbersome models - they can be considered the most reliable. The lack of mobile elements makes them much more resistant.

Unless your budget is limited, it is advisable not to go to savings when you want to buy a lock. It is good to buy a product that is reliable and long-lasting. The prices of padlocks usually start at 15 euros and can even exceed 100 euros. Making a good investment can guarantee greater safety for the bike. In any case, the higher or lower price of the product usually depends on the quality of the materials used to make the lock.
