Come ripartirà il ciclismo

Il nuovo calendario è stato comunicato dall'Unione ciclistica internazionale sul proprio sito: la Vuelta di Spagna seguirà il giro ed entrambe le corse saranno precedute dai mondiali in linea previsti in Svizzera dal 20 al 27 settembre.

Tour de France dal 29 agosto al 20 settembre, Giro d’Italia a inizio ottobre, a seguire la Vuelta di Spagna. Mondiali dal 20 al 27 settembre ad Aigle in Svizzera e grandi classiche confermate, ma sempre entro la fine dell’anno. 

E’ questo il nuovo calendario del ciclismo internazionale, così come comunicato dall’Uci sul proprio sito internet. 
Se queste date saranno confermate, quindi, la stagione riprenderà con la Grande Boucle, che da luglio slitterà a fine estate. “Svolgere questo evento nelle migliori condizioni possibili è ritenuto essenziale – ha scritto l’Uci – dato il suo ruolo centrale nell’economia del ciclismo e la sua esposizione mediatica, in particolare per i team che traggono vantaggio in questa occasione da una visibilità senza pari”.

La decisione dell’Unione ciclistica internazionale è arrivata al termine di una riunione in videoconferenza organizzata nel contesto dell’attuale pandemia e che ha visto la partecipazione di tutti i principali rappresentanti delle famiglie di ciclisti su strada professionisti, dagli organizzatori alle squadre e agli atleti. 
Confermate, quindi, le indiscrezioni sulle nuove date delle grandi corse a tappe e in linea. “Mi piace l’idea, perché alla fine comunque in una annata come questa vedere un Giro d’Italia sarebbe uno stimolo molto importante – ha commentato Davide Cassani – Sappiamo che è un anno eccezionale, sarebbe una grande bella cosa. L’importante è ripartire, nel modo giusto. Bello rivedere partire anche il Giro nel 2020 – ha aggiunto – come quello del 1946, il primo dopo la pausa bellica, dove tutto era fermo. 
Anche il Tour allora non riuscì a svolgersi quell’anno”.

The decision of the International Cycling Union came at the end of a video conference meeting organized in the context of the current pandemic and which saw the participation of all the main representatives of the families of professional road cyclists, from organizers to teams and athletes. 

Confirmed, therefore, the rumors about the new dates of the big stage and online races. "I like the idea, because in the end, however, in a vintage like this, seeing a Giro d'Italia would be a very important stimulus - commented Davide Cassani, technical commissioner of the Italian national team - We know it is an exceptional year, it would be a great day thing. The important thing is to start again, in the right way. It's nice to see the Giro start again in 2020 - he added - like the one in 1946, the first after the war break, where everything was stopped. Even the Tour then failed to take place that year. "
