Giro d’Italia Virtual: 18 aprile - 9 maggio 2020

In attesa di poter vivere la passione del Giro lungo le strade d’Italia, nasce Giro d’Italia Virtual, l’esperienza digitale della Corsa Rosa in collaborazione con Garmin Edge e Tacx.  Giro d’Italia Virtual è un’opportunità unica di sentirsi parte di una community viva, fatta di appassionati di ciclismo accomunati dallo stesso Amore Infinito verso il Giro d’Italia. Una famiglia intera che in tutto il mondo pedalerà virtualmente sui tracciati di 7 tappe iconiche del Giro d’Italia 103. Come per i professionisti sulle strade, potrai finalmente sfidare i tuoi amici per indossare la Maglia Rosa. 

PARTECIPA
Preparati a vivere da protagonista un evento davvero speciale: il primo Giro d’Italia virtuale! La tua bici, un rullo Tacx smart e un dispositivo Garmin Edge compatibile. Ti serve solo questo. COME FUNZIONA
Partecipare è semplice e gratuito. Per poter partecipare alle tappe è necessaria una doppia strumentazione:

• un ciclocomputer Garmin Edge compatibile (come Edge 520, Edge 530, Edge 820, Edge 830, Edge 1000 e Edge 1030) che ospiterà il tracciato su cui pedalare
• uno smart trainer di nuova generazione come un rullo Tacx smart (clicca qui per sapere i modelli). Possono funzionare anche rulli interattivi di altri Brand purché compatibili con i dispositivi Garmin Edge.

Iscriviti al sito Garmin Virtual Ride inserendo i tuoi dati e creando quindi il tuo profilo. Durante l’iscrizione ti verrà richiesto di collegare il tuo account Garmin Connect per condividere i dati relativi alle tue performance. Una volta creato l’account sei pronto e potrai partecipare alle tappe del Giro d’Italia Virtual.
Le tracce dei percorsi (file gpx) delle tappe saranno disponibili e scaricabili poco prima dell’inizio della gara su Garmin Virtual Ride  e vanno installate sul proprio dispositivo Garmin Edge, a sua volta preventivamente “accoppiato” con il rullo. Per gli utenti Tacx Desktop App sarà possibile importare la traccia anche nella propria piattaforma e pedalare così davanti ad uno schermo (computer, tablet e smartphone) in modalità mappa satellitare, così da rendere l’esperienza virtuale ancora più immersiva.

CLASSIFICHE
Al termine di ogni tappa scopri il tuo piazzamento in classifica. Saranno assegnate le seguenti Maglie:

• Maglia Rosa: verrà assegnata al termine di ogni tappa al vincitore risultante dalla classifica di tappa nonché al termine del Giro d’Italia Virtual al vincitore del Giro risultante dalla classifica generale. È prevista l’assegnazione sia ai partecipanti di sesso maschile che ai partecipanti di sesso femminile secondo due classifiche distinte;
• Maglia Bianca: verrà assegnata al termine di ogni tappa al vincitore UNDER 26 risultante dalla classifica di tappa nonché al termine del Giro d’Italia Virtual al vincitore UNDER 26 del Giro, risultante dalla classifica generale. È prevista l’assegnazione sia ai partecipanti di sesso maschile che ai partecipanti di sesso femminile secondo due classifiche distinte;
• Maglia Garmin: verrà assegnata al termine di ogni tappa al partecipante che, nell’ambito della stessa, avrà raggiunto la velocità più alta. Questa maglia sarà assegnata anche al termine del Giro d’Italia Virtual al partecipante che, da classifica generale, risulterà essere stato il più veloce del Giro d’Italia Virtual. È prevista l’assegnazione sia ai partecipanti di sesso maschile che ai partecipanti di sesso femminile secondo due classifiche distinte.

DONA
Supporta anche tu la raccolta fondi a favore di Croce Rossa Italiana sul portale on line Rete del Dono.
Tutti i partecipanti potranno donare fino al 10 maggio e l’intero ricavato verrà devoluto alla Croce Rossa Italiana che è attiva in prima linea fin dall’inizio dell’allerta Covid-19 con molteplici ruoli, tra cui soccorso in emergenza, supporto sanitario, psicologico, logistico, informativo, di controllo, screening e sta svolgendo molte altre attività cruciali nella battaglia contro questa epidemia.

As we are waiting to experience the excitement of the Giro along the roads of Italy, the Giro d’Italia Virtual is a unique opportunity to be a part of a lively community of cycling enthusiasts, all sharing the same Amore Infinito – an endless love for the Giro d’Italia. An entire family from all over the world, coming together for a virtual ride along the route of 7 iconic stages of the 2020 Giro d’Italia. Just like a Pro, you too can challenge your friends for the Maglia Rosa.

BE PART OF THE EVENT

Get ready for a first-hand experience of a unique event: the first virtual Giro d’Italia! All you need is your bike, a Tacx smart trainer and a compatible Garmin Edge device. Then just hop into the saddle for a virtual challenge among amateur cyclists from across the world. Will you be the next Maglia Rosa? Find out more! 

HOW DOES THIS WORK?

Join us: it’s free and easy. To take part in the event, you will need the following equipment:

• a compatible Garmin Edge cycling computer (such as the Edge 520, Edge 530, Edge 820, Edge 830, Edge 1000 or Edge 1030) to host the stage route;
• a new generation smart trainer, such as those offered by Tacx (click here to discover all available models), or any other brand of interactive smart trainers with similar features, provided they are compatible with Garmin Edge devices.

Subscribe to the Garmin Virtual Ride side by entering your data and creating your profile. During the registration process, you will be asked to connect your Garmin Connect account to share your performance data. Once you have created your account, you will be ready to ride the Giro d’Italia Virtual stages.
The stage tracks (.gpx files) will be available for download shortly before the start of the race on the Garmin Virtual Ride site  and must be installed on your Garmin Edge, previously “coupled” with the smart trainer. Tacx Desktop App users may also import the track onto the platform, and ride the route in satellite map mode in front of their screen (computer, tablet or smartphone), for added virtual immersion.

RANKINGS

At the end of each stage, find out how you are ranking. The following jerseys are up for grabs:

• Maglia Rosa: the jersey is awarded to the winner based on the stage classification at the end of each stage, and to the winner of the Giro based on the General Classification at the end of the Giro d’Italia Virtual. The jersey will be awarded to both male and female participants, based on two different rankings;
• Maglia Bianca: the jersey is awarded to the UNDER 26 winner based on the stage classification at the end of each stage, and to the UNDER 26 winner of the Giro based on the General Classification at the end of the Giro d’Italia Virtual. The jersey will be awarded to both male and female participants, based on two different rankings;
• Maglia Garmin: the jersey is awarded at the end of each stage at the rider hitting the highest speed during that stage. The jersey will also be awarded to the fastest rider of the Giro d’Italia Virtual based on the general classification at the end of the Giro d’Italia Virtual. The jersey will be awarded to both male and female participants, based on two different rankings.

DONATE

Support the fundraising campaign in aid of the Italian Red Cross via the Rete del Dono online portal.
Donations from participants are open until May 10, and all proceeds will be donated to the Italian Red Cross, which has been working at the front line since the onset of the Covid-19 emergency, offering first responder aid, control and screening, medical, psychological, information and logistical support, amongst other vitally important activities in the fight against.
