Giro d'Italia 2023

Per la seconda volta nella storia, dopo quella del 2001, la Corsa Rosa partirà dalla Regione Abruzzo. La prima e la seconda tappa si svolgeranno interamente sul territorio, la terza, con partenza da Vasto, si dirigerà verso Sud mentre la settima farà ritorno in Abruzzo terminando ai 2135 metri del Gran Sasso d’Italia (Campo Imperatore). Alla presentazione sono intervenuti anche i due corridori abruzzesi Giulio Ciccone e Dario Cataldo (Trek – Segafredo).

Presentata all’Auditorium Renzo Piano di L’Aquila la Grande Partenza del Giro d’Italia 2023 che prenderà il via il prossimo 6 maggio dall’Abruzzo.

Ad aprire le danze sarà una cronometro individuale di 18.4 km sulla Costa dei Trabocchi da Fossacesia Marina (quasi interamente sulla pista ciclabile) ad Ortona. La seconda frazione sarà adatta ai velocisti e porterà il gruppo da Teramo a San Salvo. Il giorno successivo la carovana saluterà l’Abruzzo con una tappa che partirà da Vasto con direzione Sud prima di rientrare sul territorio venerdì 12 maggio con la settima frazione che si concluderà sul Gran Sasso d’Italia (Campo Imperatore). 

Per il quarto anno di fila l’Abruzzo ospiterà un arrivo in salita. Da notare che nelle ultime due occasioni il vincitore di tappa, Egan Bernal a Campo Felice nel 2021 e Jai Hindley sul Blockhaus nel 2022, si è anche aggiudicato il Giro d’Italia. 

La presentazione delle squadre si terrà nei giorni antecedenti la prima tappa a Pescara, in Piazza Salotto.

For the second time in history, after 2001, the Corsa Rosa will start from the Abruzzo region. The first and second stages will take place entirely on the territory, the third, departing from Vasto, will head south while the seventh will return to Abruzzo ending at 2135 meters of the Gran Sasso d’Italia (Campo Imperatore). The two Abruzzo riders Giulio Ciccone and Dario Cataldo (Trek - Segafredo) also took part in the presentation.

The Great Start of the Giro d'Italia 2023 was presented at the Renzo Piano Auditorium in L’Aquila, which will start on 6 May from Abruzzo.

To open the dances will be an individual time trial of 18.4 km on the Costa dei Trabocchi from Fossacesia Marina (almost entirely on the cycle path) to Ortona. The second stage will be suitable for sprinters and will take the group from Teramo to San Salvo. The next day the caravan will greet Abruzzo with a stage that will start from Vasto heading south before returning to the territory on Friday 12 May with the seventh fraction that will end on the Gran Sasso d’Italia (Campo Imperatore).

For the fourth year in a row Abruzzo will host an uphill finish. It should be noted that on the last two occasions the stage winner, Egan Bernal at Campo Felice in 2021 and Jai Hindley on the Blockhaus in 2022, has also won the Giro d'Italia.

The presentation of the teams will take place in the days before the first stage in Pescara, in Piazza Salotto.
