In fuga dagli Sceriffi

"In fuga dagli Sceriffi" era già là negli anni Ottanta: bastava viverli senza la prospettiva di un posto comodo, ben remunerato, o da tifoso strillone e fanatico.

Il libro ricostruisce la storia di quel ciclismo dal concetto stesso dello sport della bici: fa dunque a meno di un immaginario di cartone, falsato nelle prospettive e nella sostanza, che è diventato uno stereotipo.

Utilizzando un universo, come il ciclismo, ricco di storie come nessun altro in Europa: il nostro baseball?

In fuga dagli Sceriffi nasce, nel 2011, da una proposta di Stefano Olivari, editore e fondatore di Indiscreto.

Scritto in due mesi, e modificato ad libitum, era già là negli anni Ottanta: bastava viverli senza la prospettiva di un posto comodo, ben remunerato, o da tifoso strillone e fanatico.

Il libro ricostruisce la storia di quel ciclismo, in un decennio-chiave per l’evoluzione (globale e tecnica) della disciplina, dall’idea stessa dello sport della bici. 

Fa dunque a meno della nostalgia da quattro soldi, di un certo immaginario di cartone, smontando tante leggende metropolitane imposte dal quarto e dal quinto potere. Utilizzando un universo ricco di storie come nessun altro in Europa, il ciclismo è il nostro baseball, si raccontano gli eroi, gli antieroi e le maschere di quell’evo della pedivella tricolore (gli sceriffi Moser e Saronni; gli scapigliati Battaglin, Baronchelli, Visentini, Contini), regalando anche un’ampia letteratura dei fuoriclasse dell’epoca (Hinault, Fignon, Kelly, Longo, Sercu), provenienti magari da nazioni esotiche, impensabili nello scenario del grande ciclismo qualche anno prima (Sukhoruchenkov, LeMond, Nakano, Herrera). 

E illustrando il panorama privilegiato di luoghi (come la foresta di Arenberg, il Colle dell’Izoard, il Palazzone di San Siro) che diventano il teatro delle loro gesta e delle nostre vite. 

In fondo, “In fuga dagli Sceriffi” soddisfa una missione possibile quanto ambiziosa: proporre un’opera, sullo sport come vettore culturale, mai scritta prima.

He therefore does without the cheap nostalgia, a certain cardboard imagery, dismantling many urban legends imposed by the fourth and fifth powers. Using a universe rich in stories like no other in Europe, cycling is our baseball, the heroes, anti-heroes and masks of that era of the tricolor crank are told (the sheriffs Moser and Saronni; the disheveled Battaglin, Baronchelli, Visentini , Contini), also giving a wide literature of the champions of the time (Hinault, Fignon, Kelly, Longo, Sercu), perhaps coming from exotic nations, unthinkable in the scenario of great cycling a few years earlier (Sukhoruchenkov, LeMond, Nakano, Herrera ).

And illustrating the privileged panorama of places (such as the Arenberg forest, the Izoard pass, the Palazzone di San Siro) that become the theater of their deeds and our lives.

After all, "In fuga dagli Sceriffi"  fulfills a mission that is as possible as it is ambitious: to propose a work on sport as a cultural vector, never written before.
