Un cappellino da baseball per viaggiare sicuri quando si pedala.
L’idea è firmata Park & Diamond, startup americana con base a Brooklyn, che ha sviluppato un caschetto cheè costruito in un materiale composito che permette di piegare e arrotolare il casco, per poi riporlo nella borraccia della bicicletta.

L’intuizione del modello da 226 grammi conforme agli standard di sicurezza statunitensi, canadesi ed europei è di due ex ingegneri di SpaceX, David Hall e Jordan Klein, e nasce in seguito all’incidente della sorella del primo che, in bici senza caschetto all’incrocio delle strade di Park e Diamond a Blacksburg venne colpita da una vettura e finì in coma per quattro mesi, per poi fortunatamente riprendersi.

Da qui la volontà di creare un elmetto portatile, comodo e sicuro ma anche elegante per attrarre quei ciclisti abituati a non usare protezioni per la testa. In questo senso il vantaggio del materiale brevettato da Park & Diamond è la maggior efficacia nell’assorbire e dissipare l’energia elastica rispetto ai caschetti standard, che si traduce in minori rischi di lesioni alla testa.

Forte di una grandiosa raccolta fondi su Indiegogo (più di 1,2 milioni di euro accumulati), il Foldable Bike Helmet si può ancora acquistare a quasi metà prezzo sulla stessa piattaforma di crowdfunding: bastano 89 dollari.
